Re: Reading list for an ab initio applicant to try and get ahead?
Thanks, yeah also got a PM saying the same thing. The training selects the most relevant sections of these resources, overkill and counter-productive to read ahead.

Reading list for an ab initio applicant to try and get ahead?
Just passed the online testing, I know nothing is guaranteed but would like to start reading in case I got accepted to the programme. I thought I should look at NOTAMS Procedures, Air Traffic Designators, ATSAMM, MATs, CARs, Aeronautics Act, MANAB and MANOPS. Also saw a tip to read "From the Ground ...

Re: F*** You. Pay me.
Interesting to create an account just to rant (only three posts beside the OP's user name, all in this thread). Whatever happened to you, there are more productive coping skills than anonymous web tirades. I encourage you to learn them, better late than never.

Re: Crossfit health issues?
"According to researchers at the University of Illinois at Chicago and Kaiser Permanente, white men in particular who exercise at high intensities are 86 per cent more likely to develop plaque buildup in their arteries." I for one get your question and do not think it is dumb. You can overdo exerci...

Re: Realistic expectations: age 42 with past lasik surgery?
Thanks, HiFlyChick. I'll be doing the medical sometime in 2018, cheaper in Canada as opposed to where I live in Europe. I noticed your username - in case you are a "chick" :-) I am, too, do you know how I can ask questions on the Ladies Night forum on this board? It says I need special permissions, ...

Re: Realistic expectations: age 42 with past lasik surgery?
@rookiepilot yeah since my first post, I've seen other people talking about automation and the need for human pilots decreasing in a decade or so :-( One of the reasons I want to leave my current job, translation, which is shifting to editing crappy machine outputs. Thanks also GQ4 and confusedalot....

Thanks for that, sucks for this academic year's students. It must apply to all the colleges that participated in the strike, I guess.

Re: Canadore College frozen iATPL
@SuperchargedRS Well that's pretty much my reaction, too, except as a noob the rating thing you picked up on escaped me. (The PDF also said all graduates are guaranteed an interview but not a job. Marketing.) In fact I was surprised to get this answer because the certificate specifically says "comme...

Re: Canadore College frozen iATPL
The PDF attached in the e-mail says: "Air Georgian has partnered with us to create a Pilot Provisioning Service for Air Georgian. We have also partnered with Porter Airline, Trans West Airline and Jazz Airlines to provide numerous options and directions for our graduates."

Canadore College frozen iATPL
I just got this e-mail from Essential Helicopters that runs Canadore College's program. I asked about the "commercial fixed-wing pilot certificate" but apparently it is actually a two-year frozen iATPL course (not specified on the college website). Disappointed to see OSAP cannot be used for this pr...

Re: Realistic expectations: age 42 with past lasik surgery?
Thanks, Eric Janson. From what I've read so far on this forum and elsewhere it sounds like small operators are hard hit by the pilot shortage.

Re: Realistic expectations: age 42 with past lasik surgery?
Thanks rookiepilot and confusedalot. Airlines are not my goal. It's those aerial documentaries of the Canadian north that get me. One YT vlogger is flying survey around Quebec 18 months after starting his PPL. He's also mid-twenties though.
