Re: Most useful forecast when planning a X-Country
What lownslow posted. I start with the GFA to see what is making the weather, then I try to self-brief a TAF from what I have seen on the GFA. I actually like to "click" through the various GFAs on quick order so I can see which way things are moving. (There used to be a website that did this but I ...

Re: The importance of having a degree
IMHO the more degrees a pilot has, the less employable he is, as a line pilot. Go get a Phd in Physics and then apply to Buffalo. Let me know how that works out for you. Looking at two identical guys, except one has a degree and 5,000TT and one has a high school diploma and 10,000TT, I'd hire the g...

Re: Did we reach the next phase of the pilot shortage?
I have my issues in trying to find qualified staff as well but perhaps the FTU world could benefit from a method that we utilise to good effect. As well as up-and-coming young stars we also target a more senior demographic. People who have been in the flying world for many years and who may now be r...

Re: Avgas
Where are you located? I have an e-mail which tells me that there is an "issue" with fuel distributed out of Calgary. No details, just a quarantine on all stocks delivered after 28 December.

Re: Air Cadet Alumni
Hi Beef, The Power Pilot Scholarship is held at FTUs who bid for the contract each year. The call for tenders is still out at the moment so we do not know who the winning bidders will be. Having said this, we tend to see the same FTUs returning year after year as we can be pretty particular regardin...

Re: Air Cadet Alumni
I am still looking for a few good Glider Instructors for summer positions and I need personnel to supervise at my Power Pilot Scholarship sites where the cadets receive training towards their PPL. Glider instructor candidates need to be glider pilots already but the Power Pilot Scholarship is a grea...

Re: Air Cadet Alumni
Former air cadet and glider instructor here. I only wish I were living in Ontario and had the time to help out. I miss gliding like you wouldn't believe and would love to get back into it one day. Best of luck getting some volunteers to step up. Send me a PM. I am responsible for the gliding in Ont...

Re: Air Cadet Alumni
As an alumni I would love to go back, but after a few attempts, and no returned emails/calls I have given up on trying. It’d be nice if there was a real effort to get more people involved, it’s a great program If there’s someone who I can get in contact with I’d consider getting back into it As a m...

Air Cadet Alumni
Central Region Air Operations is searching for cadet qualified pilots who have moved on from the program. We have a need for experienced RCAC personnel to assist in the operation and manning of gliding sites throughout the province. In several areas, including Northern and Northwestern Ontario, the ...
