Does Sunwing and Swoop really need an ATP? Aren't they LCCs why would they care? Are there any jet jobs I could get with my hours?

Re: US/Canada border crossing and meal planning

While on the topic of pairings in the US, wondering what people do with their smart phones to avoid roaming charges...shut them off, roaming plans etc ??? My iPhone has a feature to disable Data Roaming under "Cellular". If your phone doesn't have this you can call your provider and have them to di...

So I guess you would all be happier with a conservative government then? The same government that legislated AC pilots back to work?

Re: What is your highest level of education?

I'm calling bullshit on that. Trump University maybe. I am surprised at the low number of four year aviation degrees. I'd have though there would be a lot of those. Not surprised at the high number of non aviation bachelor degrees though. I have a graduate degree from a good university. It contribu...

The world's aviation nations are Canada, the US, Great Britain, France, Australia, New Zealand, and possibly South Africa.

Wow, tough circumstances. Seems like it paid off. Good on you. All the best.

Re: Single Pilot Airliners?

One only needs to look at the Germanwings incident to understand why this is a bad idea for passenger operations. Not a good idea now, won't be a good idea in two decades.

Re: BC minimum wage to reach $15.20, meaning that BC flight instructors will soon make less than a minimum wage employee

When I instructed on the east coast in 2010-11 I was making $25/hr and made $12000 in a year (punching 80+ hrs a week, waiting for good wx). The west coast probably gets more vfr days than the east coast but I think it would be difficult to bill anywhere near 1000 hrs. Wow, $12,000? So an average d...

Re: BC minimum wage to reach $15.20, meaning that BC flight instructors will soon make less than a minimum wage employee

Personally I wouldn't use a Instructor that's logging over 1k a year, to be a good instructor takes a bit out of you, and I question the quality of any instructor who considers 1k a year not flying enough. Also if you're not logging a hour or so of ground per flight, you're not doing a very good jo...

Re: BC minimum wage to reach $15.20, meaning that BC flight instructors will soon make less than a minimum wage employee

If an instructor is only getting 800 to 1000 hrs per yr perhaps they should look at working at a busier school. Or a school that doesn't overhire number of instructors. Of course there is no guaranteed hours due weather and whatnot, but that's fairly low yearly numbers. It would be very unlikely fo...

BC minimum wage to reach $15.20, meaning that BC flight instructors will soon make less than a minimum wage employee

With class 3 and 4 flight instructors making $25-30 per hour on the west coast, flight instructors will soon be making less than a full-time minimum wage employee. Don't forget to buy your instructor lunch once in a while, everyone. Math below: FT minimum wage employee: $15.20/hr * 40 hr/wk * 52 wk ...

Lol, yeahhh, no First off I said a real ATP, not a euro ATP, like a US ATP, and I'm not talking about the check ride lol, I'm talking about the hours, and you can very much judge the quality based on the log book and the operators and types of operations the pilot used to build said hours, some kid...

Re: What is your highest level of education?

I know I'm going to get a lot of flack for having this opinion. I don't know of a single university anywhere in Canada that will administer a completely multiple choice final exam that allows you to rewrite only the parts you failed. It's an embarrassment that in Canada we can have a first officer f...

Thought about it, you really don't have much experience in the industry do you? And yes, you can see the quality of their hours and how they were logged based on their resume. You may very well have more experience than me, but I do hold an ATPL. And from my personal experience, passing both the AT...

Re: What is your highest level of education?

My university transcript states the courses I took, when I took them, the percentage I received, the letter grade I received, the class average, and my standing relative to my peers. What does your ATPL say? Does somebody who has 2000 hours instructing VFR in CAVOK get the same ATPL as someone flyin...
