I’m honestly surprised that a takeoff clearance can be issued with the airplane ahead still on the runway.
I don't even know why there needs to be such a rush. Yeah yeah fuel is money, but safety first for @#$! sakes :-x . Hopefully this is a lesson learned. Could have been disastrous.

Re: Crossroads in my life

Theres no need to go to confed or seneca or other silly programs. You already have a degree so you dont need to waste any more time. Go to a local flight school and get er done asap. If you dont mind instructing, then go for instructor rating after CPL. Once you get some time instructing, get your m...

Re: Near collision at Brampton

The attitude is clear, and I've seen it myself in the pattern encountering the odd pilot: "I'll do whatever I want, due to some superiority complex, and to heck with anyone else". Once there was a guy in his private 152 who was at my 6' o clock position that had me in sight in front of him. We were...

Re: What do you do when you think someone should never fly again?

-Approach minimums are a personal limitation. -Barber pole is a target, not a limit. -MTOW weight is just a suggestion. -Icing is slippery, so makes the plane fly faster. -WAAS gives you an ILS everywhere. -What do you need the second inverter for (or any other important redundant systen) -Just hav...

I've never applied to Air Canada or Westjet. Im happy with where Im at now and plan on staying there for good. Sure if things change in the future I'll open the doors. But for now, if AC or WJ wants to hire me, they need to come find me, Im not going to them. Cheers 8)

Re: Does speeding tickets affect employment opportunities?

Just 2? Ive got plenty over the span of 20 years+. When I was 17 I got my first one, 150 in 100.. back then they never had the stunt driving rule, just had to go to court and let the judge decide. Anyway, Im not saying you should speed recklessly, but going 80 in a 70 is not speeding in my opinion. ...

The fact that everyone is leaving and that Jazz has to fly their routes speaks for itself. It's usually the people who complain and b***h all the time that end up leaving. Im not at GGN but I have friends there who are long time GGN pilots. Also, I don't think its only at GGN that people leave, eve...

I would not be surprised. Too many people out there think flying is a race to the finish line. Calm down people, enjoy the flight. If you need to rush then let someone else fly. You sit in the back. :D

I would give stronger weight to the recommendation from someone I know and trust, than even a long list of impressive sounding, but anonymous references. It all depends on the person. I'm sure your a great person and you recommend great people. But there are some jerks out there who recommend other...

Re: Why would a scheduled air service be flying VFR in this weather?

Regarding 300-1 (from previous posts): 300-1 isn't exactly my idea of safe for a scheduled air service between airports equipped with instrument approaches. For me personally, I go IFR or I cancel if I know I can't make it in. If I go try the approach and its a 50/50 chance of getting in, then I ca...

Re: How do you deal with...

Aah yes Ive delt with a few in the past. As an FO the hardest part of the job is getting used to flying with different captains as each do different things. That's why there are SOP's in the first place, but sometimes they are not followed properly. The bottom line is: Never allow the captain to do ...

I will be doing a STAR for first time in the next few days (YYZ). Anything I need to know? Any common mistakes pilot's make so I don't make them? Please list any advice. It will most likely be the DUVOS1 arrival SSM transition. I know that we plan for the RWY on the ATIS, but I heard at YYZ its not ...

If you get passed over for a promotion, are pissed about it, and quit, then you obviously had a bad attitude. Ive had to deal with a guy like that once. We never got past the pre flight briefing, I requested a change of FO and it caused an unnecessary delay. I had to chat with the CP after the inci...

No, an effort to pay crap wages and offer crap working conditions while the market conditions offer better opportunities are what keep bonds around. Re: GGN CRJ Captain

Beware of the training bond as well. I will probably start a new topic at a different time on the training bond issue. My message to those who apply is this: If you know you are not going to like being there, don't apply in the first place. If you apply and get the call, don't break the bond. Keep ...
