Re: GGN YYZ 1900 to Cease Operation
Transition to Air Canada? Right. Not so hard to believe. In the past year or so there has been about 10-20 in the PIT courses coming right from a 1900. Majority from Georgian, few from EVAS and some from other operators of the plane. Wish the crews there best of luck, hope this works out for ...

Re: PML Portal
Is it all bad news for B scale? Doesn’t sound like there’s a PML, low wages, and slower upgrades with the LOA? I think AVCan readers need to remember most people on here that talk about the current PML not working are either not at Express or didn't make it through the process. One would have to as...

Re: Union at Sky
If the biggest plus of your company is that it makes it easier to work somewhere else, you might be doing something wrong as a company. I would think the opposite. They're doing something very right by using something that costs them nothing as a form of compensation. Depends. If people leave quick...

Re: WestJet pilots to fly Swoop aircraft
I just think it's a long game and it is far from over. The deal will be the deal but from what I see so far the company has done pretty well.

Re: Navajo lands on the street in yyc
Do NOT question CWE. He has been flying for over 60 years, without an accident on record. He learned how to fly an airbus IN THE FACTORY. He worked for a major movie studio and was paid very well for it. He also holds an autogyro licence AND flew airshows in Europe. I don't know him, but I know thi...

Re: GGN Interview Questions
Pretty sure the people that have left Jazz have gone to Fly Dubai, Air Canada, back to PASCO x2 (not ggn). The folks at Encore have gone to Air Canada, Westjet, Sky Regional (not ggn). The folks at Air Georgian are going to Air Canada but a ton are definitely umping to Sky, Jazz and Encore. 99.9% o...

Re: Bargaining idea
Not achievable at all. What you do is a commodity. You provide regional lift. Do it cheaper and you win. Or. They win. But that is the game. [/quote] What do you do? Since clearly you're not a Jazz employee..... Plus that is a very sad way to look at the issues.....it may be the correct way but vie...

Re: ALPA blacklist?
Except that the AC pilot union supports the blacklist! And the odds are pretty good that one of the people reviewing your job application to AC is a union member or leader. Even if the support is there for a blacklist at the troop level at AC they cant simply raise their hand and say don't hire Bob...

Re: Bargaining idea
I always wondered this. What is the “classic airline”? The classic airline was (from what I understand) an attempt by the company to spin off the DH8 classics into its own airline (kinda like rouge and swoop). In an attempt to make it another division with cheaper labour. What ended up happening wa...

It can’t be held against you. The two prior posters are only highlighting discrimination under human rights. AC does not discriminate based on past employer which is very clear in the statements made on the portal and website. Could you imagine anything different? Don’t feed the trolls man. AC will...

For anyone who is looking to upgrade equipment or move on to a better carrier / lifestyle, etc, it's disheartening that your career choice can be held against you. Just doesn't seem right. Re: Union at Sky
As an Encore pilot who witnessed the union drive at WestJet and then participated in our own, I cannot stress enough how important ALPA is to YOU as a line pilot, your peers, the company, and lastly our profession. First and foremost is the legal liability protection they offer, yes I'm talking abo...

Re: ALPA blacklist?
But It’s going to sound an awful lot like Russian figure skating judging if he vetos a candidate with time on type or heavy jet experience vs someone off the street with Q or 1900 time, all else the same. It might even go to the labour board as discrimination if less qualified candidates were hired...

Re: Bargaining idea
This is all playing out to Air Canada’s master plan perfectly. This whole contract was a union bust and they are playing both sides like fiddles. The strongest thing any union can have is solidarity in its membership. The greatest loss in the 2015 contract was the loss of solidarity in the separati...

April 4 search SWOOP on westnet. Theres already a list of staffers. Pictures uploaded within a day or two. Tell your friends. I'm not actually at WJ but I would like to know the list. Let's find out who the scabs are. Do not let a scab in your jump seat. Do not befriend a scab. Tell every scab you ...
