Are you serious?

You paid, what, $70,000 to get your licenses? Have some self respect. Find a job where you can actually use them. If you work on the dock for a season, that means no flying job for at least a year. Who knows what will happen in a year? What if the company folds? What if the boss' son gets his CPL an...

Re: Some U.S. regional airlines are now sponsoring Canadians for the H1B Vis

Because they are are worthless by definition, they have no self worth or self respect. When given a chance to make a positive change in your industry with little risk or without losing much money, as they aren't even paid enough that a weeks pay is worth mention, that you're too weak or the tenacit...

Re: Some U.S. regional airlines are now sponsoring Canadians for the H1B Vis

Not sure if you're a pilot, but you can't hire a guy and have him flying the same day. Shutting down a regional for a week will make a HUGE impact and the media will be all over it, you will have a place at the table and the ear of the people in short order. Not sure if you've ever worked for a reg...

Re: Some U.S. regional airlines are now sponsoring Canadians for the H1B Vis

Annoying is all Canadians do, and even then they don't even really do that, I'm talking about make their voice felt, shut it the f' down, that will give you a place at the table. It seems we are speaking a different language, just curious if you're a socialist or commie, or maybe just dramatic, but...

Re: Some U.S. regional airlines are now sponsoring Canadians for the H1B Vis

Oh you poor little baby, dude man up and take charge of your own life and quit being a friggin doormat, this is how the Canadian aviation industry got so screwed up. I mean between this line of thinking, to all the people on this AVIATION forum who go out of their way to argue that pilots aren't ev...

Re: Some U.S. regional airlines are now sponsoring Canadians for the H1B Vis

The only major that doesn't require a degree is AA if you go through an AAG wholly-owned subsidiary regional airline like Envoy. Here's the catch: the AA WOs pay the least and have the worst conditions of any other regional airline ... and current calculations are putting the flow at 10+ years for a...

Re: Some U.S. regional airlines are now sponsoring Canadians for the H1B Vis

Errr...no. It wasn't that long ago that American pilots were absolutely getting treated like crap and having to take it. Regional pilots on food stamps, anyone? It's only a convergence of factors favouring pilots at the moment that is producing the much improved conditions. Not pilots "refusing to ...

Re: Some U.S. regional airlines are now sponsoring Canadians for the H1B Vis

Maybe if Canadian pilots refused to be treated like crap like their American counterparts and made Canadian airlines feel it, like they do in America, there wouldn't be the issues there are in Canada. You're talking about a pilot population which once believed that chucking bags for 2 years in Norm...

Re: Some U.S. regional airlines are now sponsoring Canadians for the H1B Vis

Per the CBA it's waaay less, you're counting non protected bonuses that come and go at the whims of management. Also keep in mind there are more qualified pilots in the US than Canada, there IS A REASON they are trying to hire Canadians, because American pilots don't seem to think it's as great of ...

Re: Some U.S. regional airlines are now sponsoring Canadians for the H1B Vis

Canadians, taking the flying jobs Americans won't stoop low enough to take. 1st-year pay at AWI is USD 76,000 or CAD 95,000. So you can make more than a fourth year AC FO as a first year AWI FO. You'll also pay less taxes and live in a country with a lower cost of living. If anyone is stoopi...

Re: Some U.S. regional airlines are now sponsoring Canadians for the H1B Vis

[...] In the past, Mesa Airlines obtained most pilots through training programs run in partnership with educational institutions, or from online applications. “Now we’re spending millions of dollars, a ridiculous waste of resources,” on actively recruiting pilots. “We have 10 people just recruiting...
