Re: 79 Airplanes Retired

Yes but as stated previously it is only a net loss of 40 airframes or 17% of your fleet. Still crappy for those affected. I guess we will find out soon what the Express fleet plan is correct...these layoffs pretty amount to about 17% of our pilots....massive massive amount of guys...2 months ago al...

Re: 79 Airplanes Retired

Surplus from seniority 3704 to 4499
795 surplus.
Based on 1/3 of the fleet being parked I was expecting +-1300 ...still a real heartbreaker.

97% participation, 97% YES strike vote. I'd say we are now united and ready to fight against the destruction of aviation in Canada.

Re: TA REJECTED

If by "sold out" you're referring to DC vs. DB debate, you need a reality check. Perhaps a great day for those hoping to join AC but not for those already there. Why jeopardize your pension's stability for the sake of somone who isn't even at your company yet? The DC plan sounded to be very generou...

All this and fly till you die. Sounds like to advance your career is to quit and pick a new profession. I think I'll throw up a little now. Before we go out and change careers how about we stand up together for what we believe? Let's not have a defeatist attitude, just get mad, get together and be ...

Re: New TA reached!

If history will teach you anything about AC pilots its that 25 % make things happen, 50 % watch things happen and could care less and the remaining 25% say " what happened???? " I wish I was wrong but IMO this will be voted in with a 75% majority and the bitching will never end. This TA will be the ...

Guys, I am neither junior nor senior at AC.I have about 11 years in. I have read the TA twice in it's entirety and am profoundly insulted and feeling betrayed by my union. Is there something I'm not getting? Are there guys out there that would vote yes on this? Am I crazy to think that this TA gets u...

1- No typical roster, it depends on your seniority. If you are junior lots of 4 day cycles throughout North America, Caribbean and Central America.A junior roster is about 14-16 days of flying.Everything from 1 to 4 day pairings.Very few redeye flights overall but if you are junior you will be doing ...

Re: The Pilot Pilots Want To Be (!)

The ads have been running nationwide for a few days.It is not a jab at any other pilots. What it is is Air Canada promoting their employees to the public, believe it or not showing pride and respect for a talented and important group in the company.I never thought I would see the day but I have to s...

Except I can retire at 50 from WJA provided I get a 6% return on investment. If I want to retire with a similar "pension" as an AC guy gets, I need to work until 60. Also, I'm not pissed off every time I have go to work.[/quote] Actually the vast majority of the guys love their job.I fly the 320 and...

Re: Interviews

I think the EMJ vs. 767 debate depends on where you come from. -If you have jet experience then I would go for the 767 RP, take it easy and see the world. You will be fatigued, not because you are overworked but because you usually start your day around 2000 EST and fly through the night. That being ...

Actually the training dates that came out Oct 5th show YVR B767 RP's starting class in November. Those are spots that no one has bid and therefore new hires will go to the B767 in YVR on the initial class. The other course is for YYZ EMJ FO's. These are the positions for the new hires in the first gr...

Re: Status at YYC?

Actually AC had 6 A319's with MX and I believe one B767.
Other than the 1 A319 in YYC, there is one in YUL parked at the Maintenance base along A taxiway and and 2 or 3 in YYZ as well.

I don't know what AC plans to do : re-integrate to the fleet or re-lease them out.

It used to be internal connections went a long way. I know many guys hired at 24, their fathers were all senior AC Captains. Those guys pulled some serious strings from the inside. Now the pendulum has swung the other way. From what I understand, candidates are evaluated in the database via their C...
