Re: Challenger 300 salary.
Been flying one for almost 20 years. Started 150k - now 220+. 604 ops tend to pay a little higher than 703. We have 4 crew per a/c. We have been looking for a replacement pilot for months now - two years ago we got 400 resumes - now, maybe 10 qualified. Ask for more but don't settle low. It's a pilo...

Same here, we are way above the HIGH number....there is something fishy about these stats.
USA is great to visit, but you couldn't pay me to live there.

Re: East coast operators
as a pilot at one of these east coast operators, you are totally right about retirees, especially over the last 5 years. The problem we are having is not lack of resumes, but lack of decent resumes. East coast operators generally hire captains only. Finding a competent pilot with some (not even lots...

What training institute would you say is the best in Canada?
My daughter is looking to go to school next year and study aviation. I'm looking to hear what people think about current training providers across Canada? University, diploma programs etc....
Many thanks in advance.

Income insurance medical?
Just wondering if anybody knows of a type of insurance that would cover pilots if they were to every lose their medical? I've already got critical illness and disability insurance but the coverages are approximately 70%. When you read the fine print there illnesses are also somewhat limited example:...

Re: Cabin pressure descend on takeoff from higher alt airports
Got the answer from bomrdier....all the planes I fly are new in the past three years.
Bom said the fms follows a predefined cabin climb schedule. When taking off from a higher alt airport after takeoff it descends to meet that schedule then climbs normally.

Cabin pressure descend on takeoff from higher alt airports
I’ve always wondered why when departing an airport ex: 4000’ asl the cabin pressure descends after takeoff significantly I.e. 1500 feet approx the others day. Is the pressurization system descending to follow a schedule? This happens on a challenger, citation and hawker so it is intentional. Can any...

Re: Small companies that pay over $100k
I work for one of the above mentioned companies - someone said in one post that the right corporate gig is arguably the best job in Canada. I would have to agree! I have flown corporate most of my career and I have always followed rule of "love the owner and you'll love the job". Lifestyle: just as ...

Re: WestJet Mainline/Encore Hiring pool
I know this question must have been asked at some point, so pardon me for asking again.
Is WJML still hiring direct-entry co-pilots? I heard that at some point in the near future the route would be through Encore and work your way up through the ranks. When will this policy begin?

Re: Expatriate contracts (light jets)- need info
just keep this in mind......the only reason expat jobs are posted on employment sites is becasue their not "good" jobs. They are the ones that nobody else wants. I have done a number of contract jobs and from what I've seen, it's extremely rare that an expat usually stays or renews their contract wh...

Re: Transport Takeover of 604 POC's
Let me get this right: Transport will not require a POC for any operator below 12566lbs? EG. Companies could use one or two King Air 100 type aircraft, operating corporately - they could in fact operate as GA private?

Indefinately if the owner resides in Canada. If the aircraft is part 91, the owner would have to have a majority shareholding in an American based company.

Air Canada Hiring Femail pilots still ????????????????
I was in TO yesterday at Sky and overheard a conversation that made me a little uncomfortable.
Has anyone heard rumors that AC is hiring a small group of female pilots in order to increase the ratio to meet Union requirements???????
Hope this doesn't stir up a "Sh#@ storm" as Layhey would say:)

Bushav8er - I know where your coming from when you refer to hands and feet first, BUT - later on in your career I think you will find that hands and feet abilities are not as important as they are up north. When it comes to the point where you are hand flying for the first 1.5 mins of departure and ...

Female Friendly Skies ???
Prior to my aviation career I was in the CAF. I'm not going to go into details but when I first started my term it was explained to us that females were in the top 2 percentile when it came to accuracy with a rifle! Apparently females "in theory" should make the best snipers but due to the extreme p...
