I can confirm *some* IFR trainees that were in specialty have been called back in the YVR region (this includes myself).

Re: Any updates on training?
I'm also in the YVR region and was training IFR in Speciality training.
All I've had was a survey come from Nav, asking if I was still interested.
Haven't heard anything since.

Re: Any updates on training?
I can confirm that some trainees have been contacted. When they will be back, who knows. I work in in an ACC. Oops, I totally left that out of my last post! I have been contacted! It was via a generic email that I'm prettttty sure went out to ALL trainees who were terminated. It asked if we were st...

Re: Any updates on training?
I was in the the group of trainees let go in September.
I was a fair amount of the way through IFR speciality.
We have not heard anything yet directly.
I have only been told that internal emails were sent with mention of starting training... no timeline though.
crossing fingers!

WhatsApp chat for PPL written exam
hey guys, I had seen another group on here that had started a WhatsApp chat for those that were studying for their PPL writtens. It was a very old thread, and im assuming they've all written their exams long ago... lol. Anyhow, I thought maybe there may be some people who wanted to bounce ideas/ques...

Re: Nav Canada Training After Covid
There's a Terminal course starting in Vancouver in April, and a handful of trainees that haven't been axed at various other units still going. As for Generic IFR/VFR courses or complex tower courses, I would be surprised if anything happens again in 2021. I'd love to be wrong, but I don't see anyth...

Re: Male:female ratio
In generic training, you can practice as much as you want because the sim is voice recognition and you operate it on your own. Most of us came in on the weekends, especially before an eval. The centre is open 24 hours, so you can come in and practice as much as you'd like. In speciality, the sim is ...

Re: Male:female ratio
Training is sounding very difficult, you're doing great! How many people are still in your training class? May I ask what happened to the ones that are no longer there? Out out 13, we have 8 remaining. We are nearing the end of specialty training. I'm not really at liberty to discuss details of oth...

In my IFR course, we started with 13 students.
6 female and 7 male... so almost 50/50.

Re: How is VFR FIR assigned?
I do not understand your question. By FIR I am assuming flight information region? When you apply, you are applying to the FIR you live in unless you're planning on moving. As for VFR vs IFR - that is decided after your final panel interview. I think it is probably a combination of how well you sco...

Historically they’ve provided iPads.
I heard a rumour they may be switching to tablet.

Re: YVR In-person Assessment (Jan 2019)
Wow, I don't want to get nav Canada angry by revealing too much info about the test, but man it was brutal. Did any of you guys who passed the assessment already feel good about it? Hey Hopeful, I wrote in May and was sure I failed. I am horrible at math and guessed on what felt like half. Ran out ...
