Re: New Hire Bases

I am starting at Jazz in March and I know most new hires are currently being based out west. Any idea how long it would take to hold YUL currently for each type and which aircraft would be the fastest option to get based there? Also any input if there is going to be other ground schools planned aft...

The fact that they tried to walk out several times and were told no, means they already lost. We might just not find the result as satisfying as we might like it to be.

Re: Grievance update for the 285ish former Jazz pilots affected by Flow

Just as TAs need to be voted by the membership, TAs need to be approved by the BOD. It's bullshit that whoever negotiated for Jazz obviously didn't have a mandate though. Common employer has been tried before when Jazz was owned by AC and it failed. There are established delineations in the airline...

Re: YYC Base

Yes, for the foreseeable future YYC Q400 seems to be the junior spot at Jazz for new hire initial classes. Last 6 classes in a row have had at least 4-8 YYC Q400 positions for new hire FOs.

New class starts today so will know tomorrow what positions available.

Re: Negotiations

Genuine curiosity... does the JAZ MEC say "no" and let AC negotiate first? My gut says they will/should because it might be more of a benefit than to flinch first. Doing so puts ALL your trust in ACA and praying they don’t screw Jazz pilots in the process of their own negotiations. I wouldn’t blame...

Re: New hire bids

I have a GS date in September with Jazz. Not super picky on equipment but am really hoping to get YYZ base. If not awarded that base on my initial bid is it likely I’d be able to prior to training being completed? I would say odds of not getting your preferred base before you are done your training...

Re: Is it finally time?

Whether it’s a viable option or not, motions need to be put forward to the union asking for a vote to remove the MEC due to lack of leadership and not protecting the CA. Emails need to be sent to the MEC asking them to make more of an effort or step down and make way for someone who will. The Jazz ...

Re: Is it finally time?

Why can't we see the numbers.. Don't forget, they work for US.. are paid by US and are accountable to US.. Keeping us outside the loop is not acceptable. During ongoing talks/negotiations you will never see "the numbers". Ask any airline, any labour group, any party ever who is actively negotiating...

Re: Negotiations

Would be nice if the union updated us on..... everything Or anything for that matter If nothing has happened……what’s to update? The MEC has a strong habit of only writing the pilots A) when needed B) when they have something to say….so even if the message sounds like “nothing” it likely is saying “...

Its a wish list of type and base you want that every mini bid/backfill bid and major equipment bid looks at when assigning positions.
