I thought I heard that if you had some multi time and more than the min hrs required (1500 total, for example), you could at least jump up to the second year pay scale. Any validity to this? Do they actually start you at the 1st year FO pay on airline central if you have over 1000hrs? What about if ...

Good company, and great way to start your career in aviation (if you like teaching). You will be working 6-7 days a week with the Air Cadets, build a bunch of time and get your class 3 instructor rating. If you don't teach for the Air Cadets, it would take several months or even a year before you co...

Ok, point taken - I went a bit off topic. I was kind of getting into a rant about all those FO's who complain about not having enough PIC time, plus I wanted to give a heads up about the existence of the ATPL (if he doesn't already know about it). Since most others were supporting the idea of 200hr-...

A couple guys mentioned that "with your time" you should have a job. Well, 1400TT really isn't a tonne of time. It seems like the big hiring that has been happening lately is with guys with a bit more time. Be patient. With higher-time guys getting picked up, hopefully there will be more jobs availa...

I don't know ESF, I see the validity in Miss Mae's point. It might seem to save you $ since the time is counted towards your CPL, but how likely is it that you will use it right away with only 200hrs? I agree with Altiplano - think ahead and if you won't be using your MIFR right away, don't bother s...

With 200TT, a bare CPL and MIFR, its not likely that you will get a right seat job to use your MIFR. Even if you do manage to find one, it might not be your best move, considering the PIC requirements for your ATPL (if you plan on completing your ATPL one day). It would be more realistic to work as ...

My bad! You're right its discrimination. With that in mind, I think a couple more years is a decent trade for the completion of a degree which will not only help me attain my goal (AC), but also provide me with a back up plan.

Cheers.

Younger, but no degree vs. Older but with a degree

If you were planning to get on with AC, does the older person with a degree still get chosen over the younger person without, if the flight experiences were equal? I'm in the younger, but no degree group, though I did complete 2 years of university with good marks. Although I really enjoyed my studi...

I actually wanted to modify my question: Younger, but no degree vs. older but with a degree, does the applicant to AC with the degree still get chosen if all the flying experience was equal? If you are younger, would it then be a good idea to put your DOB in your resume as Me2005 asked? I'm in the y...

Good for you for getting those hours at 24! Hope I'm not stealing your post, but I have a related question: Do you think AC would prefer to hire younger pilots, provided that they meet the requirements? Since $ is spent on training, I'm guessing they'd prefer to keep you around for quite a while, so...

How did you know my email address?? Hahaha!! j/k. My email is just my first and last name, and I was thinking more for some kind of multi job for someone with about 1000hrs and little multi time. I was considering putting a small pic on the corner of a well-written cover letter, but I might re-think...

Picture in Resume

Do you think it is okay to include a decent picture on your resume? Just Curious and Birddog, I'm not talking about one in a speedo! Seriously, if you are not scary to look at (not that this should matter), is a picture a good move or a bad move? Does it help to put a face to a name? Ya never get a ...
