Re: Cargojet vs Sunwing

Morningstar from YOW would suck as their reserve is 1 hour call and they call a lot. No commuting on aircraft outside MS, and arrive a day early if on company aircraft. They have been cracking down on commuters by punishing them on the schedule... speaking of schedule, there is no bid process, it i...

Re: Hiring Timeline

Does anyone know when the next Ground class is going to start? I know that there was a batch in November. Any takes on the next batch and the hiring? Applied in November and still waiting for a response. Thanks, I don’t know if there have been gs since your post, but I do know there is one starting...

Re: Old Collective Agreements

What I find so different about the Delta pay scale is how flat they are from year 1-12. Only $20-30/h from year 1 to year 12. There is a lot of pressure to change types to move up significantly. You must do 10 new type courses in a full career there, close to 2 years spent on course. Nice numbers t...

Re: Hiring outlook

G'day Just to add some nuance and facts: Due to a shortage of Captains in YYZ, some scheduling changes were made. To say that every captain works 18 days a month and gets extended and cold called on their days off, is not accurate as a blanket statement. Just looking at latest scheduling statistics...

So one less plane in YYZ...that will reduce the number of pilots needed in that base.

Set in stone. Go rent a 172 or something similar and rip around for 30 hours. Summer’s almost here so what better time?

Re: Hiring outlook

Any word on Encore hiring or interview calls from time when résumé submitted? Are they interviewing? Is there ground schools scheduled? I know know they are interviewing for mainline but strictly YYZ base and Swoop. Some people have said they’ve gotten calls for interviews days after applying. They...

Re: Hanging your hat at Jazz?

28% (those that are post 2015 hires who plan to stick around) voted No. That is over 400 pilots! Sadly, there were about 600 that were new and wanted AC desperately and another 500 or so on the old scale that this would carry them straight through into retirement. Beautifully played by CHR and AC. ...

Re: Jazz Pilot Pool

I got my pool email in February, no news so far for an upcoming ground school. Man, I think Jazz is filling their pool candidate list as much as they can with what reason? Who knows? There’s people here in the pool since nov/dec and still no call and you were pooled in feb. How many pilots are ther...

Re: Bid 2019

Looks to be 2 GS in April, 1 May, 1 June so far planned. Assuming at least 1 GS a month for the rest of the year. I have absolutely no way of confirming this but today I did hear through a friend of a friend that due to the MAX ordeal jazz is pausing air ggn pilot transitions. Just throwing it out ...

Re: Hiring outlook

Your math is wanting. Flow Speed = Flow + Deferrals + Resignations. The second two make up for more that just Flow. If it was just Flow then yeah, it would take forever. But people leave Encore, and believe it or not a lot of people choose to stay when they can flow. “A lot of people choose to stay...

Re: Hiring outlook

Hiring is starting again in April. I asked management for a friend who is waiting. Current flow as of last week is 3 years and 1 month. I have been keeping tabs on attrition at Encore by crossing names of the list at Encore as the lists are updated and comparing it with flow. As it stands the list ...

Re: Hiring outlook

I can count on two hands the # of pilots who have ever left AC for WJ. That's well done! Counting using both hands is a very good skill and I hope you'll soon progress to being able to simply count in your head without having to use your hands! I perhaps wouldn't be bragging about it on the interne...

millenials have a ton of money in their pockets You're crazy. [/quote 30 year olds in 75K vehicles, something I could never afford......yeah, I'm crazy. I have to say I do know a millenial pilot paying $800/month for his car loan. There’s no need for that but if he likes the car that much then more...

Re: Hiring outlook

When was WJ the most coveted job in Canada? Back when AC was a basket-case that took concessions from its pilots just to keep its head above water, when JetsGo went under and took the pilots' up-front bonds with it, when Sunwing laid off half of its pilots every summer and outsourced a bunch of the...
