Re: Corona Virus

You gotta laugh at some of the - we're all doomed!!!! - comments on here. Up until this virus happening the world was ticking along quite nicely. A huge wave of retirements and more and more people wanting to travel meant plenty of jobs in the aerospace industry. That's still true and people will wa...

Re: Corona Virus

The good news is this does seem to be ending, lower cases in Italy, Spain and New York. The social distancing policy while having an economic impact is obviously working. Those people that complain about how it’s ill advised, over the top etc etc should honestly ask themselves if their opinion would...

Plus a Wal-Mart, 2 McDonald's and a Starbucks ;)

I lived there for a couple of years. It's actually pretty nice, from May to September. The outdoor theatre was long gone before I got there but I heard it was pretty decent.

Armstrong ON anybody?; how about Pickle Lake? Chapleau? Geraldton? Red Lake? Dryden?

Ah come on now, Dryden does not belong on that list.

Re: Grab a seat. The music is stopping

Your right, that’s how canjet 1, roots, greyhound, jetsgo, Canada 3000, ect ect ect were able to weather 9/11, SARS and the recession so well.
Those companies had other problems already.

Ryanair, easyJet etc etc must have gone bust then... oh no wait they didn't.

Re: Grab a seat. The music is stopping

I can also see Flair and Swoop having a hard time because of this... with their prices they need excellent load-factors, and that's not going to happen if people need to save their pennies to pay off debt incurred by this whole shit-show. I disagree, low cost carriers are the ones who are least imp...

Re: Leaving with a bond?

Or how about doing a bond for actual training costs, with a breakdown of these costs given to the employee. Some operators have ridiculously over the top bonds for two years that are designed as a trap to the employee. If an employer must bond, because it knows its poor working conditions makes it n...

Re: 2 on 2 off with flight deals

I believe any city you want to visit in the world is best done over 7 days. 1 day to get there, 1 day to get over any jet lag, 3 days exploring (enough time to see most things without running out of places to go to), 1 day to get back and 1 day to prepare yourself for working again. So a 2 week on, ...

Best one for 2 on 2 off with flight passes would probably be Wasaya out of Thunder Bay or Sioux Lookout.

It's a decision between long term (but potentially boring employment) or fun (but potentially short term employment). It's a decision I'm also trying to do. It's a very tough choice isn't it.

Could be wrong but I believe there's a $35k bond for two years, fixed at two years. I.e you leave at 22 months you get to pay a nice $35 large to the company.

Re: pc-12 FO or Encore interview

hmm but is the PC12 job dependent on passing a PCC or a PPC? If it's a PPC then the PC12 job isn't guaranteed either at this point.

How big is the bond for the PC12? Maybe you could pay it off from working at encore.

Re: pc-12 FO or Encore interview

This is bad advice. While I’m not a fan of the world we live in where low time pilots can walk right into a large airline operation it is our reality. You will be doing yourself no favours by going and flying 703 for a year or 2 only to end up going to encore/jazz in the end anyway. I do believe th...

Re: Logging Pilot In Command Under Supervision Time

Done properly a PICUS program can be quite beneficial, but only if it's done properly and not just as a pen whipping exercise to get someone with very little actual PIC time their ATPL requirements. As said above it'll depend on your company as to who has to be the Captain in order to log the PICUS ...

Re: Am I too old to be a commercial pilot?

For point 3, the fact that you live in Hamilton (Toronto area) already is initially not going to help you but 1500 hours down the line it's going to be a big benefit. You'll have plenty of options without having to commute, unlike alot of us who live in smaller towns and cities and have to pay for a...
