Re: Anyone got a paint job done recently?

I will add those questions to the list i've got already. You sound like you know what your talking about Hugh, where you located? Still pa...

Anyone got a paint job done recently?
I've recently gotten a quote from Muskoka Aircraft Refinishing to have our C150 repainted. Its about 5-10k cheaper than anyone else. They appear to do mostly commuter and business jets judging from their website gallery, only thing close to a GA aircraft i saw was an amphib beaver. Living with the a...

Re: RPP+Floats or PPL+Floats
I intend to do my RPP, then work towards my PPL before doing floats. The reason mainly being is the closest training school is 1+ hours away by car, and my dad keeps his C150 at our farm in the summer time, where i live. So once i have my RPP, I will be able to just fly our own plane to the airport ...

Re: Paint removal
Not looking to repaint at the moment, just strip it down to the aluminum. I asked the ame where i do my flight training and he said he wouldnt have his crew do it for less that 30k. Which is about double what our little c150 is worth so...

Paint removal
Can anyone offer any advice for removing paint? My dads c150 has about 3 lays of old stuff on it and its flaking off pretty badly. Our ame suggested a product but it has been discontinued apparently. He is gone away for a couple weeks so im unable to ask him to suggest anything else. I'd like to hea...

Re: Windsock for a private airstrip
I was all set for an orange and white one, as im used to having the wind speed indication it provides with the bands. Plus it would help whenever i'm trying to decide if its too windy or not to go out and spray the crops! But a canada flag one sounds cool! I will have to dig a bit deeper and see wha...

Re: When do you think flying will be back to february 2020 level
Our sector will be one of the last to get the full green light. Business travel has been pushed towards online meetings. They were headed that way anyway, but because that tech has existed in some form for years, I think most business travel will return. Some travelers will be affected by income lo...

Windsock for a private airstrip
Hi everyone, I recently finished off building a private airstrip on my farm. Got myself a good 2000' and managed to get it seeded with turf seed before a good rain last week! Wondering if there are any windsock restrictions; what colour i'm allowed to put up, IF i'm allowed etc.. I swear i read some...

Re: The beginning of the end of small private airstrips
Yes. It’s all in CAR 307. It’s not particularly onerous. If your proposed aerodrome is away from a built up area, you need to write to your neighbours and the minister and a few other people, and solicit comments and objections. Consider the objections and comments, and prepare a report as to how y...

Re: The beginning of the end of small private airstrips
Sorry to resurrect this old thread, but is anyone able to shed some light on how all this played out? I cant seem to find much online other than the odd newpaper article from 3+ years ago. Would love to hear what the regs are for private airstrips now, i have a farm and would really like to store my...

Re: Getting my ppl- go direct or in steps
Thanks for the input fellas, i do appreciate it. Thinking that direct to ppl is probably a better way to go at this point; just really wish that there was a school closer than 2 hours away. A few people i have talked recommended doing the ppl ground school course online if i cant make the time to do...
