Standard airline stuff, it just doesn't get advertised much for obvious reasons.
That's what I was assuming.

Booze in the cockpit

I was just sent an e-mail from a non-aviation friend. It mentions that on their last flight from Point A to Point B they observed the flight attendants taking wine and beer into the cockpit. I hope this isn't SOP for any airline. But i'm hoping there is a perfectly valid reason for why booze was bro...

I have the PMDG 1900 model as well, fun model to fly. Good on framerates for crappy computers too. A nice model similar to the default KingAir 350 but not so damn twitchy.

If they really thought that bigger was better wouldn't they have continued there massive 747-X program? .. they have been talking about constructing an airplane geared toward speed .. with comfort of course. So I guess only the future will tell .. Uh, that was called the Sonic Cruiser. It was shelv...

So what's the big deal about not getting mainline service from AC? Jazz does just fine, and with all them purty new RJ's coming who's to complain. In YXE and YQR we are losing mainline service this summer to Jazz. Which is good, cause now neither city has to connect through the other to get to Toron...

Jetsgo to sell 5 aircraft

Jetsgo is in final talks to sell 5 of its 15 Fokker 100 aircraft to AirFleet Credit Corp of the Cayman Islands. The airline still has to publicly release details of its restructuring plan and will have to spend $100,000 on labour, fuel, spare parts and pre-inspection to fulfill that letter of inten...

If you are looking used, or refurbished, tigerdirect.ca has some pretty decent deals. As for eBay, well I'm out around 1000bux. Not from eBay but from UPS stealing my laptop enroute back for warranty repair. I would advise if you are buying eBay to buy from someone in Canada. Duty over the border su...

It's common practice to leave the gear down for a maiden flight. I think they are probably to busy with other system tests to worry about a gear problem. Even the Avro Arrow maiden flight video's show it with the gear down. Right. The gear is left down on purpose for the first part of flight. Once ...

Boeing has proved before that their estimates for new aircraft are accurate. In the case of the 777, and more specifically the -300ER, it outperformed expectations. I would expect the 200LR to do the same.

As mentioned on airliners.net I hope AC hasn't made the same mistake as Swissair. SA also made a large widebody order shortly after coming out of bankruptcy protection, and we all know where they are today. GONE! It was also rumored that whoever won the AC contract would also provide winglets for th...

Awesome news. THough I'm not sure about the new ice-blue livery, can't wait to see it on the Triple. And years later on the 787. Good news for BOeing and the 787 for sure. Big kick-in-the-ass for the A350 program.

From my experience with 1000TT 880PIC and no multi, I'd say stay instructing and at least build the PIC time. I've talked to many places, and no one is interested in a guy with 1000 hours but no multi. I got shot down pretty much every where I've looked.

172 down by Assinboia doing power-line inspection

Off CBC REGINA – Three men are lucky to be alive after their plane crashed Wednesday morning near Assiniboia. Assiniboia RCMP said the Cessna 172 was on a power line inspection run when it clipped one of the lines and crashed. At around 10:30 a.m., the plane went down three kilometres northwest of C...

After two summers of doing low-level photography I have more close calls with birds than I like to recall. Most involve hawks and eagles. Once saw a bald eagle underneath my wingtip, had my windscreen filled with a hawk but somehow managed to miss it. I've almost stalled trying to avoid one - it's h...

Beneath the white chevron there is a purple stripe. A stripe I haven't seen on any other WJ airplane. And it would appear that the leading part of the tail is a slightly different color of blue than a stripe that runs down the middle.

Is it just me, or does that tail have a different paint job than the rest?

-800 has more powerful engines, higher MTOW, greater seat capacity, is longer by about 6 meters, -700 has longer range than -800
