Renewing Flight Instructor Rating Requirements.

I did an instructor rating back in 1999. After receiving my class 4 rating I started flying charter and never did make use of this rating. I am now in a position where I'd like to instruct part time on the side. Do I have to pay to do the whole course (ground and air) over again, or is there a lesse...

Re: North Star

Back in the day, there was no training bond. Now there is. Why d'ya think? Probably too many freshly PPCd pilots heading south to fly a Caravan for ___________ (add any southern Caravan operator here). I know that if I had a well run company, in a not so nice place, and pilots kept leaving soon afte...

Not to be a downer but without any Twin Otter time or float time chances of getting hired are next to none... With a float rating they might consider you for the right seat but as posted before, those spots usually go to Maldivian nationals.

You're right Paciflyer.... "It is what it is". Unfortunately, I don't know any operators with -2s that pay in the vicinity of $10,000/mth with benefits. Each to their own but sounds like a good gig to me. :)

Hmmm.... $1070 - $1270 weekly..... that's $55640 - $66040 annually.... and you basically work from April to September (6 months).... by my calculations that's $9273 - $11006 per month worked.... you're free to do and go wherever you want for the other 6 months.... not bad if you ask me.... but heh, ...

Look on the salary forum. It should give you an idea. Capt. as low as 50-60 gs all the way up to 100 gs plus. Overseas work does tend to be on the high side of that scale.

Go for it! Some guys hate it the day they get there.....others, I sometimes wonder if they'll ever leave. From what I'm hearing now a days, if you're an experienced DHC-6 driver on floats then Maldivian Air Taxi (Borek) is your best bet (offering more money). If not, TMA will tend to take guys with ...

Air Canada - Pilot Career Center

Has anyone done the Pilot Career Center interview prep for Air Canada? They have the specific mock interview preps for Air Canada, Cathay, Wetjet, etc. etc. and I'm just wondering if anybody has dished out the $300 for their services and if it was worth it? I might do it but would like some insight ...

Good point... I have no problems washing and grooming my airplane but if my wage is at 'industry standard' then I'll go work for the outfit that industry standard says someone else can clean it for me....you'll get what you pay for....

Twin Otter PPC rides can be done on flight safety's Twin Otter simulator. Know of at least one company that does their CANADIAN PPC's in the simulator.

Yes, YPL can be a challenging place to live. As for North Star though, they are a great company. The owners are top notch. Lots of flying in the summer and you're treated well by all involved. I would rate the pay as industry average, not high but not low either.

Yeah, and after submitting it to the gov. at the end of the summer you'll get what you're owed (maybe...) but don't expect to be invited back next summer for that flying position. It's gotta make you think what you're doing there in the first place. Is it to fly or get a fair wage for a days work. O...

Top notch company and owners.... Get paid year round, even when the flying drastically slows down in the winter. Nice to know the layoff slip isn't coming in Sept/Oct.

OK, lots of talk about secondary education (diploma/university degree). I agree that when applying at Air Canada it probably will help. I'm in my career job flying a 'fire truck' and not a 'city bus'. My aviation diploma has helped me all of zero times along the way. Good work ethic, attitude, and e...

Did the Mt Royal program a 'few' years back and found it to be average. That said, given the chance to do it all over again, I wouldn't. I haven't found that my aviation diploma has helped me with any respect to getting a job or being a better trained '200 hr wonder' than the next joe blow. Nothing ...
