Well that's great to hear about COPA. I'll be using them to get from SJO to SJU through PTY in March. I'm looking forward to it now.

Re: Returning to Flying After more than 5 years
I spoke to a TC Inspector at the YYC office (as I'm in a similar situation) and they mentioned that the PSTAR is only for the school records, that it is not sent into TC. I guess it is to validate current knowledge of CAR requirements only to the school that is signing you off as 'current'.

Re: Cessna 172M Value
Thanks for pointing my error in not understanding this tax. See that now in the definition of subject aircraft: Definition of subject aircraft Under subsection 2(1), subject aircraft means an aircraft that is an aeroplane, glider or helicopter with a date of manufacture after 2018 that meets any of ...

Re: If I could do it all over again I would__________________?
I think we all have stories like that. I can remember Tim Morgan coming up to me one day in his flying school, saying Dave I'm going to start an airline. What do you think? My reply??? Let me know how that works out for you Tim. Sigh. Shoulda, coulda, woulda. Now it looks like he's back in the game ...

Re: If I could do it all over again I would__________________?
Good question. I think for me, I'd take every penny that I invested in my flying career and invest in Microsoft, Apple and BitCoin, and WestJet. THEN I'd sell them all, and start flying with the proceeds from my gains...and still have a fortune in the bank.

Re: Im in highschool
Good luck in your dreams Rocky. I hope the best for you. Flying can be a wonderful career. The first thing that I recommend to young people just entering the industry is to get your CAT 1 medical first. Before even trying any flying lessons. I don't know how much it is to get the initial, but it's c...

Re: Maintenance Engineer/ Commercial Pilot
Before I start I would like to make it very clear that I have enjoyed both flying aircraft AND fixing them when I tried them out. For flying I took a discovery flight and for a maintenance experience I visited my cousin at work (who is an maintenance engineer in Newfoundland). I am currently in gra...

If we are talking about old sayings my favourite is the 'near miss'. If two planes had a near miss, didn't they actually hit each other?

Re: Westjet to start ultra low cost carrier
I am totally against lowering pilot/cabin crew/maintenance/dispatchers wages to lower the ticket price. The biggest cuts have to come from the top. If you don't like the enviroment get the F out. again, no one is forcing you to work in any of these positions. Your tired of people complaining about ...

Re: Westjet to start ultra low cost carrier
I just went and compared ticket prices from YYZ to YYC round trip tickets leaving on the same day. Friday May 26 with a return date of June 02. I gave a Torontonian a 2 week vacation in YYC. Greyhound = $487.50 WestJet = 484.21 Greyhound 2 days 6hours/One way. (54 hours, but the coach does have wash...

The hi-lighted part "under the influence of alcohol", 0.03 (though under the limit criminally) could still be interpreted to be "under the influence". I know that I used to focus on the first part of 8 hours and just kinda blew off the other part about being under the influence of alcohol. I think t...

No OC required for this type of operation. They are flying their airplane with their own goods in it, is like driving to the local harbour, picking up the fish and driving home to sell it to the neighbourhood. Now, if they were transport it for someone else thats a different story, then an OC would ...
