Pimper, do you know if the published escape maneuvres can be used by Part 121 (CAR 704) operators if the SID climb gradient can't be met on one engine or is it only available to Part 91 (Car 604).

Also has anyone ever seen any documentation on this subject from Transport Canada ofr the FAA?

747-200 Simulator for Rent

Just wondering if anybody new a good place to rent a 747-200 sim. for a couple of hours, preferably in Canada as the States might be a little tricky if you don't want to do a complete course.

Thanks

.80 Occasional is right I believe that it’s been 2 maybe 3 people hired onto the Jetstream from within the company in the last 5 years and none of them came from the ramp, they where from aviation or airline ops. 3000+ TT with jet experience (for direct onto a jet) seems about right, but they have a...

Approach / Touchdown Speed

Here’s another one for you guys to discuss. Until recently I believed that when approaching to land in gusty wind conditions you adjusted your VRef to be VRef + half of the wind gust. i.e. VRef = 120kts and the wind is 20kts gusting 30kts the new VRef would = 125kts. Our company policy is to approac...

Stearman, I beleive that in a transport catagory aircraft you must be able to maintain the climb gradient on a SID with an engine out to accept it, whether that is the standard 3.3% or a higer posted gradient. If you cannot meet this gradient you must depart visually or see if ATC can modify your de...

Thanks Panama Jack, Do you know if that 2.1% climb gradient for the approach climb is just an aircraft certification requirement or are all missed approaches based on 2.1% or less to provide obstacle clearence? As 2.1% seems a litlle shallow to avoid those mountains out in Colorado or BC. Thanks aga...

Approach Climb Gradient

I know that for a commercially operated, twin engine, turbo-jet aircraft to depart an airport IFR, the aircraft must be able to maintain the second segment climb performance required by the SID with an engine out. Does this also mean the same aircraft must be able to meet these requirements to condu...

Skyservice haven't hired any non-type rated or non-Skyservice employees for the Jetstream for a long time now (I beleive one in the last three years) and with more and more 31's popping up over Canada that probably won't change for the next little while.

Skyservice only have the two 31's now. One in YYZ and one in YUL. Good company to work for but haven't had a Jetstream overseas now for a couple of years.
