Re: Ab initio training comes to Canada

There's absolutely no incentive here for people to sign up for these cadet programs, unless mommy or daddy is paying for it, or you are mortgaging your house to fund it.

Re: Commuting Question

Hi all, Im not in the industry just curious about something. Are there Captains and FOs that live out east (NB/PE/NS) and commute to YUL or YYZ on the regular? Is that a thing? Or not really? Also is YHZ considered a AC hub? Cheers Yes. Many do. YHZ is not a AC base. Thank you for the reply.

Re: Private License Cost

I just completed mine and I was around 12k all in, including all the tests, fees, membership fees, gear, etc. Did it at Brampton.

I completed my PPL with 28 dual, 15 solo and 5 instrument. So if your training requires you to go beyond that hours wise, then obviously it will be more.

Starting your own flying club

Hey all,

Are there any good resources available regarding information on starting your own flying club in Canada?

I've found quite a bit on doing this down south, but nothing pertaining to Canada.

Cheers

Re: Is it a good time to change careers?

Sorry yes by CFI I meant flight instructor.

Thanks for the replies and perspective all. I definitely think this is something I want to go after. At the end of the day, if that path becomes seemingly unrealistic, I would have a career to fall back on, and I would have become a better pilot.

Is it a good time to change careers?

Hi all, I'm fairly well established in my current engineering career at the age of 35, but I really love flying. I'm fairly comfortable (70k yr). I'm just wrapping up my ppl training and was toying with the idea of switching careers. Fully understanding the wage hit and amount of time/money it will ...
