Say again. Fortunately it was a good outcome and the pilots did a great job.
Do Canadian airlines follow the same SOPs with respect to the repetitive instructions?

Re: Domestic vs. Foreign

For all you TDI drivers, I know all the positives such as better engine reliability and gas mileage. I've always debated the advantage of buying a diesel jetta vs gas jetta. The price difference alone ($2000-3000) means you had to own the car for at least 100,000kms just to pay for the difference. H...

Re: Recruiting process for ATC

Could anyone give some advise. If someone does an interview in Toronto, does that mean they will be applying for a position only in the Toronto 'region' (ie:Ontario)? The reason I ask is I live in Montreal but my french is just horrible. Should I still do the assessment in Montreal or try to arrange...

Re: Recruiting process for ATC

I called today with that exact same question. The answer is you have to wait for the assessment date in your region. So if you live in Montreal (which is a separate region from Toronto) then you have to wait for an assessment date in Montreal. I wonder if it is okay for me to use my friend's address...

Seriously guys, leave Iceman alone.

He's a pilot who's not afraid to speak his mind about our economy. That's hard to find these days.

Iceman, do you have any stocks that I should pay attention to?

Re: Recruiting process for ATC

I saw it on the main site. But, there is no mention of it on the applicant page.

I also sent them an email inquiring about this. However, I received a very generic response of 'You'll be notified by email if you're selected to attend". My impression is they're a little bit disorganized.

Re: Recruiting process for ATC

I just noticed that Nav Canada will be having assessments this November in Toronto, Winnipeg and Edmonton. I know this is a new hiring system, so everyone is out of the loop. But, does anybody know if Nav Canada will bother contacting applicants outside of these cities to attend this November assess...

Re: MISC FORUMS

My preference is to always have the 'active' forums on top . It's all about having a well laid out page; and less to do with laziness for scrolling or the unfamiliarity with change. So, once again, my vote is to bring it back to the top. It's a good forum with many posts, why risk losing that? If it...

Montreal ACC tour

Hi,
I would like to get a tour of the Montreal ACC. However, I absolutely can't find any contact information for the shift supervisor. Also, anybody know the address for the facility?

Thanks

Re: Hypermiling and Gas saving Tips

There is an episode of Top Gear where they drive an Audi A8 for 800 miles on a single tank of diesel. Somewhere in that episode the host Jeremy Clarkson mentioned that modern engines don't consume any fuel in a geared deceleration. I'm not a mechanic or believe everything I hear, but perhaps there m...

Re: Jazz laying off

With respect to the 'oil boom', as long as the US dollar remains weak, we won't be seeing any relief at the gas pumps anytime soon.
Unfortunately, with the upcoming election in US, I expect this situation to get worse.

Saw this video. I think it takes place in Switzerland. Hope everyone is okay.

Does anyone care to speculate as to the cause?

Re: FO Salary in the Maldives.

Canadians working in Maldives for more than half a year are probably entitled to 'overseas tax credit'. Combined with such a depressing salary for FO's, I'd suspect that taxes will be the least of your worries.
