With a third attitude indicator installed, you may use a slip-skid indicator in lieu of a turn and slip indicator or turn coordinator. Power-driven Aircraft — IFR 605.18 No person shall conduct a take-off in a power-driven aircraft for the purpose of IFR flight unless it is equipped with (a) when it...

Re: Do you need a valid ppc to ferry aircraft?
You need to register to fly GPS approaches? Not sure what you are trying to say. If he flies privately in his PC12, and the GPS equipment in his PC12 is certified, why would he need to register anything to use the certified GPS installation? Yes, as it states in the AFM under GPS limitations...that...

Re: Do you need a valid ppc to ferry aircraft?
Which regulation would have been broken if someone flies a PC12 with just themselves on board without a PORD? As long as you didn't carry passengers or goods and flew on conventional navaids and didn't go into RVSM airspace you would be fine. If you need special authorizations (GPS, RVSM) then you ...

As stated above, it is 24 months or 5 years with integrated. In my case it was 4 years since I wrote and they issued the type rating on an IATRA so it all depends on who you get processing your license.

Re: Navcanada discontinuing approaches at under-serviced airports
To maintain an approach is about $2500/year depending on who you had design it in order to meet all regulatory requirements (checking AIRAC for new obstructions that may effect approach, redesigning it in regards to any changes and the sort). To get a new approach designed about 10 years ago was abo...

Re: Hiring Surge
I started flying when I was 14 and from that point forward all I could ever think of was that I wanted to fly for a living (Air Canada back in those days). Everything I did revolved around what would lead me to my love of aviation and after awhile (9/11 really slowed things down) I was getting paid ...

For those who are interested... I applied in the past for a position in standards. I did not even make it through the screening process as I did not include the group 1 instrument rating wording as I was in possession of an ATPL (didn't copy their requirements and ensure I listed everything). So if ...

That's why I will wait for the trained people with the actual information to give me the cause...maybe a review of a CAP GEN is in order.Co-Joe: but realistically the 100 nm safe is higher because of the 11 800 AMA for rocks 180 nm west of there,

Oh my, not sure why the replies are so harsh, I think it is a fair question. Yeah I'd have to agree with Digits. If I was getting into aviation and perused avcanada to see what type of industry I was getting into based on the "brotherly" advice of anonymous strangers I would do a 180 and enter a mo...

Re: Navcanada discontinuing approaches at under-serviced airports
It costs ~$10,000 for LNAV and an another $6000 for LPV to get your own approach designed, followed by $5000 a year in upkeep costs to designer. Why doesn't NavCanada/ICAO do a risk assessment on flight check validity times similar to aviation pilot medicals and reduce requirements. If there are reg...

Transport Canada should post risk levels on their website for each operator and optimize Google searches of Airlines to show the rating...maybe that would be a better motivator for SMS processes to be followed or ya know...just maintaining airplanes so they don't cause accident/incidents if that isn...

Got my PPL at 17 and then flew helos in the military for 33 yrs before going over to the airlines. "Eyes wide open" making $70,000 on a pension isn't really embracing uncertainty...you already make more than any AC new hires for the next 5 years without even working... That being said, get your 300...
