Re: Best aircraft for 1 day pairings?

If you desire single day Carribean turns it might make sense to bid 737 and go for the second FO spot on these high credit Carribean turns. Food for thought. Second FO spot? Surely they would have to run an augment Captain? Or maybe we are going to be the first airline with 737 RPs? You are right I...

Re: A321 v A330

As a general consensus, 321 is more desirable. More variety in flying, larger fleet and larger pilot group typically equal better QOL. Some people prefer the 330, but there’s much less diverse flying - especially in winters. This could change as the fleet grows a little bit in the coming months, and...

Re: Commuting from YVR

It’s in the collective agreement;

15.9 Parking Facilities
The company shall provide FCMs with free and safe parking at an airport in Canada.

I commute from a non base airport. I set up a parking pass myself through the respective airport authority and expensed it no problem.

Re: No Incentive to Upgrade

No union required at the Moment. Everyone gotta let the dust settle and wait for the entire Canadian aviation industry to defrost itself. Let’s see what AC got to offer, then sort out the contract. I see it all the time on the line, everyone is racing everywhere. Chill, we will get to the runway, a...

Re: No Incentive to Upgrade

Although for reasons I’ve mentioned, I think unfortunately the ship has sailed for a union at Porter - at least in the short/medium term. I respectfully disagree with you. As we hire more and more DECs on the E2 I think you'll find that most are coming from airlines that had unions. So I only see t...

Re: No Incentive to Upgrade

Would you use the same dialogue towards a Rouge pilot whose been on the Airbus for a year, if AC started hiring off the street specifically for the 787 & 777 and hypothetically created a new pay scale which doesn’t include flat pay? Would you tell them they could be flying a Hawker or Dash 8 instea...

Re: No Incentive to Upgrade

Would I use the same dialogue towards a rouge pilot for some made up scenario that doesn’t exist? I don’t know it’s a made up scenario that doesn’t exist so maybe. If that pilot has been flying for only a couple years. Believe me, no one wants seniority and YOS respected more than the people that a...

Re: No Incentive to Upgrade

The people in here bashing pilots for wanting to have their seniority respected are part of the reason we’re so far behind our peers in the US. If we want to see the industry in Canada get better, we need to start acting like American pilots. We need to stick up for one another and OUR interests. I...

Re: No Incentive to Upgrade

I’m not shocked about what’s going on at Porter given the pilots aren’t unionized. However, I feel it will continue to deteriorate without proper representation. While yes, fleet locks do exist at companies with proper collective agreements, there are typically clauses in which it shall be waived, s...

Still a shockingly high number of AC pilots wearing company lanyards and not wearing an ALPA one.

Re: New hire bids

Can’t say that enough, my biggest regret in aviation was coming to Jazz. Any clue why the union proposed an MOS to the pilot group without dealing the exclusivity/flow? Like, why even bother proposing 30% when AC is going to do what whatever it wants do you know whether or not encore flow to WJ mai...

Re: Air Canada pilots should negotiate at least to match Envoy and Medevac

We're also comparing AC FOs to medevac PICs. I don't think it's far fetched that a PIC on any aircraft would make more than an FO on another aircraft. I mean, it obviously isn't, because it's happening right now. You really ought to read what you write. IM A CESSNA 172 PIC SO I SHOULD MAKE MORE THA...

Re: New Payscale

On pilotcareer center Porter advertises a different pay scale for porter E2 pilots than the one mentioned above: Captain year one 190$ hourly rate...up to 270$ after 12 years....??? This pay comparison graph isn’t accurate. For example, year 1 CA at Transat is $190.26, ranging to $262.22 for year 11.

I see C-FFLZ flew YVR-YHZ last night on what looks to be a ferry flight number. Another parked plane?
