I am not saying it hasn't worked out for some people but IMHO there are much greener pastures out there these days. Working in a foreign country for $1700/month is shit. Everyone I know that works overseas earns a minimum 6 figure salary. Granted they are not in aviation but come on here. Okay, you...

If you are smart you will have the 25 night x-country PIC by the time you finish your CPL training. The 100 night and 75 instrument will probably have to wait for the MIFR F/O job. Unless you go the instructor route, where you might get it. That would be the case, if you already had a night endorse...

With 360 hrs you may have enough PIC for the ATPL, but you won't have enough PIC for left seat up grade at most companies. The important one, and hard one: 25 hrs PIC x-ctry NIGHT (and you still need 100 hrs at night) Don't forget the 75 hrs instrument time too... (25 hrs in the sim can be credited...

I'm just thinking about a ramp candidate working a solid 10 hour shift, rolling 200 fuel barrels up a steep ramp to a lodge or something. You tell me if the smoking/non-smoking attributes come into play here... ...Yes I did notice that the largest a/c was a PA-31, but just think about that sc...

Well, not that it matters, I meant AirTran the US Low Cost Carrier, and it was an Airbus A-320 for sure! They have these on hand until they take delivery of their 737 NGs. :D Thread was on A.net as a news thing a while ago. I wonder what the PAX were thinking? Hey! I think you CAN see the flux capac...

Air Tran A-320. I've seen this before. Make sure all those latches are secure on those pre-flight inspections!

I wonder if there's going to be any issues with the "new name"

Yes, yes, yes... A GPS is a valuable tool... But let's not forget the details. The pilot is NEW, he's just graduated, he doesn't have much total time or money. Unless he comes across some huge pile of cash, he won't really need a GPS flying within an hour from the airport. Money is better spent gett...

I might also be one of the few that offers a bit of negative feedback on a choice for a GPS at the private level, but here's why: Okay, you're 17 and just gradutating... unless you have a boatload of cash, a killer job, or a plane of your own, (courtesy of mom and dad) my guess is that you're not go...

I know some dispatchers, and depending on the company, you need to know a lot. It is a stressful job, and if you don't have the stuff, you'll find out quickly. If your IFR knowledge isn't up to par, you will struggle. If you don't like doing everybody else's job, you'll fall behind. If you get behin...

Nope, nothing is physically written on the license showing IATRA or SARON / SAMRA written. I'm sure TC can pull up your file on the computer, and if required get the full skinny on your status. I've never known anybody to submit proof of exam results. If you go write the exam, I've heard that some T...

jimmyjazz, I'll bite on that one. If it were a single pilot operaton, I believe they could do that. But if it's a two crew deal, then you need 2 certified pilots right? I'll bite... Let's have a look at this logically: Twotter says you can do all the legwork yourself, and pocket your $25.00. Well this is true, but how much is your TIME worth? Where else do you think you could have a shot at meeting several chief pilots under one roof? Saves on driving across Hell's...
