Re: Any updates on training?
Anyone know if I only applied for ATC on my application, would I be able to submit a second application for FSS? Trying to expand my application to get my foot in the door. If I test for one, will they forego my other application? Waiting for an interview for ATC, not sure if they'd let me do in-pe...

Re: Panel Interview
Hey everyone! Finally getting some movement after pandemic shut down my interview back in March 2020. Had my interview in November, and have no scheduled the next phase (panel interview) for next week. Wondering if anyone has done this and has any insight into how it goes? Thanks for the help in ad...

Re: Any updates on training?
I was referring to OJT getting called to towers not basic course start dates. Should've been specific I guess.TheGooseIsLoose wrote: ↑Mon Aug 16, 2021 9:38 am
There were at least 3 more Generic VFR trainees in the YVR region who were laid off and haven't been called back.
Hopefully this means that they will get a call soon.

Re: Any updates on training?
YYZ VFR Generic Trainees were called back today. Course starts October 4th So, this is in-line with what others claimed. FSS first, VFR next, and finally IFR. VFR was called back "officially" in the YVR region pretty much same time as FSS. Only...I was the only VFR -YVR trainee to be laid off last ...

Re: ATC Layoffs?
49 IFR controllers served noticed. Shoot I know it is majorly selfish but being laid off trainee in the first wave of lat offs makes me more and more scared as more get laid off. Last ones out I assume first ones back, certainly fully licensed controllers before a trainee. This is such a friggin me...

Re: All Trainees Fired
I had a manager tell be that NavCan was losing $1500 per MINUTE. Thats about $2.1 million dollars per day. Pretty grim. Damn.. that certainly puts things into perspective. I agree with Big Pistons though, it really looked like NAVCAN could have used a bailout or additional funding. Dont want to sta...

Re: All Trainees Fired
Hi from YVR FIR here. I am one of the trainees cut but the rest of the trainees from my class are still in place. However I imagine as time goes on they will cut trainees before they cut licensed controllers. Until those still in training actually get their license it will be a scary time.

Re: ATC Layoffs?
Trainee here that got cut yesterday. It’s a painful time, and the gov needs to step in finally to provide more aid. When air traffic recovers there isn’t going to be enough staff. It’s all rather sudden and horrendous. And the controllers are going to eventually be cut too I think. I imagine they wi...

Re: YVR Training Offers
How did you get a training offer or a standby offer in YVR when you applied in YYC? I thought you get an offer within the FIR you applied to? Hey Whatisttv, I put in a FIR transfer request for my application once I passed the in person assessment (now FEAST). I do suspect that the switch is why my ...

Re: YVR Training Offers
Pretty excited. And yea as stabalizedapproach said it's for VFR (my top choice too) and yea it means I have to do prep as normal but I might not start this session. All I can hope is that I'm first one up on standby! MikeGolfEcho - honestly as far as I understand the only thing you can be sure regar...

YVR Training Offers
Hi there. First time starting a topic but I just received a standby offer for July training and was wondering if anyone else heard back. I am very hopeful to get in for this session! Hoping to get a tribe going for the July session. Also if people have ideas on finding a pet friendly place in Vancou...

Re: When to request to change FIR
Hey ty, I have actually switched regions (YYZ TO YVR). When I spoke to the lady from my assessment she did say that I should change regions once I pass the assessment so that the interview is in my region of choice. Although she did mention it helps to do it with the right FIR right away but you can...

Re: YVR phone interview
I hope so! They have not updated their website for the new application protocol, it still says 1 year to reapply even. The longer I wait the more sure I am of how much I really want this .

Re: YVR phone interview
I am so thrilled to hear some people getting offers on here. Congrats to those that are going through! Waiting for a VFR offer since I was streamed before they changed their systems. I am kinda scared though because I got the "eligible for offer" in July and the next training session is July and I d...

Re: YVR phone interview
I thought I'd heard about an April start? I could be wrong though. Yea at first the lady said March/April but then in September she send me a new email saying not until July. So I am hoping that has changed!! Good luck with the interview! Prepare a few smart questions to ask them (what would you sa...

Re: YVR phone interview
Hi group, So happy to find this forum! Currently in Calgary (But transferred my application to Vancouver FIR). I passed the final interview back in July in YVR, almost two years after my initial computer test. My choices where VFR, IFR, FSS. Thankfully I qualified for VFR (probably the happiest day ...
