Re: AME cracked cylinder while removing exhaust - liability?
My first thought is that a part that breaks during disassembly wasn't airworthy to start with. But I'd also like to see what condition the jug was in, and how long had it been in service. If it was 1900 hours and parked outdoors for the last 20 years, you'd have to expect some problems during disass...

Re: FAA ATPL Conversion new regs
[quote="photofly"There's no reason why converting should be equally easy in both directions when the FAA licence is much harder to get de-novo than the Canadian one.[/quote] The really hard part is passing the FAA "good moral character" requirement (FAR 61.153)! In Canada, any common criminal can ge...

Re: Restricted Radio Operators Certificate
Who needs one? The RRTO certificate is useless when flying overseas. You'll need the Restricted Radio Telephone licence (not the certificate or endorsement) when applying for a an RTO permit on a foreign pilot licence. The CAA of your new destination country will usually credit your experience if y...

Re: Mental dump of questions for PPL & CPL level
Ok so then it's not the RPM that determines whether or not the engine may get damaged - it's the %power? Maybe it would help to study how airplane engines are certified. When an engine is certified as a "2000 hour" limited engine, it means that it has been tested over and over again in service, and...

Re: Mental dump of questions for PPL & CPL level
. . . in this context when they say "license" they are not referring to something that is held by an individual person... they are referring to a license that allows the station to be operated by SOMEONE, regardless of who that someone is..... The radio station is the airplane "radiotelephone". It'...

Re: Need some help.. After the PPL and how to get hours...
Depending where you're based, you might manage to get some reasonably-priced x-country time when needed by joining a local chapter of the RAA. Some RAA chapters have a good choice of experimental reg Cubs, Jodels, etc, for less than $50/hr, with the bonus of becoming proficient at tail-wheel handlin...

Dupont Viton fluoropolymer elastomer o-rings resist fuel and acids better than any other types, in my experience. Believe it or not, there are companies that specialize in o-rings, with excellent customer service, and Google will help you.
