Re: Air Canada's Questionable Hiring Process.

I actually chatted with someone from the hiring side as this was coming out. There is apparently a considerable amount of flight schools that are calling themselves accredited university institutions that are in fact not. And this became the way of taking care of the problem from AC's standpoint. Th...

Re: schedules for new hires

It has been all timing for me for sure. In addition anyone that moves to a lower position faces a 4 year freeze. I know of a couple of people that bid off the emj captain position to 320 and 767 fo mainly for schedule and they both are frozen but lifestyle will improve greatly. As far as being and e...

Re: schedules for new hires

Emj F\O commuter hired in January. 2 months on reserve, and a block (much better as a commuter) since then I have over 50 behind me now. I work 16 days a month. Current pairing: Commute to cyyz, Day 1 yyz-yxe, Day 2 yxe-yyz-ewr, Day 3 ewr-yyz-yhz-yyz done in time to hopefully get home, 4 days off. L...

Re: Air Mikisew shut down?

Having been through a couple, it seems to take alot less than one would think. In our case at the time all it took is one extremely motivated aviation inspector that had apparently been done wrong in the past by the chief at the time.

Re: TC selling a/c; HQ inspectors will no-longer fly

Fewer training aircraft means that inspectors with lapsed aviation competencies and stale aircraft-type ratings will be asked to oversee the safety of the aviation sector. I am sure their 100 hours a year kept them incredibly safe and on top of everything. Wasn't the old and still relevant saying "...

Re: West Wind is in National is Out !!

Didn't National lose the contract after a not so stellar audit from Transport. And aren't the minimums in ZFD around 600 ft on the NDB approach so 800 ft shouldn't be a problem. Are the rnav approaches coming soon?

Re: Cessna 207 anyone??

I would recommend that unless you actually need it remove the belly pod. Or limit the weight greatly in it. I flew one with the pod and it was an absolute dog. It was always much better only carrying the freight you could see. ie main cabin and the nose compartment. C of G was fairly simple rest the...

Re: Ursus crash

Wow -23 might as well go home in November and come back in March. I flew one of them up there at -53 in Ross River coming back to Tulita. We had good winter fronts and I think we through 15w50 in the engine and she ran good. Of course you had to be exceptionally careful with the warm ups and cool do...

Re: Maule m4 as a floatplane

Flew an M5 on floats and skis with a 210 hp. It was a little underpowered with a good sized load on floats, most of the problem was getting it to the step but it still carried a good load nonetheless. On skis nothing could hold it back.

Re: Unsafe BAe Jetstream fleet grounded

Carrier, Using that kind of assumption then all metro's, mu2's and Jetstreams should be grounded. The -14 seems to be the culprit here. Having flown metro's and j31's through engine overhaul intervals I don't think any operator has come across these problems. Or if they have the manufacturer and the...

Hate to help ressurect a dead post but Indanao I was't inferring that Northwright had anything to do with Ursus. I was commenting that the gentlemans friend had plenty of options to leave Ursus if it was so bad ie the skeds that Northwright operates everyday in and out of Fort Norman.

Yeah they messed up big. They should face the full extent. Anyway they want to cover it up, the fact remains they were asleep at the wheel!

Re: A/C down in SK - Jan '07 - Draft Report Critical of TC

I am sure the pilot was told about it and even went through a simulated one in say Calgary or Vancouver. She probably was not afforded an actual demonstration because her 500 hr instructor was not comfortable with it. Quite possibly it was not even demonstrated while training for that position. Havi...

Re: Cessna 421

Hey, The simplest way to describe a geared engine in this context is a standard type of engine that they boost the power on by raising the rpm of the engine and then adding reduction gears through to the propellor by doing this they can run a higher horsepower engine to slower speed prop for noise a...

Saskaberia- One of the coldest windiest places to call home in the winter also known as Saskatchewan. A little of topic but we had a stretch of 45 days last winter where the high was -25 degrees celcius.

Re: Cargojet flying on behalf of Amerijet?

I have two questions;

1. Who the hell would ever put up with pissing and crapping in bags?
and if this has been going on for a while,
2. Why would you still work there?

Sounds like you may have partially created this problem yourselves.

Re: plane crash near Colville Lake

That would be the one, I remember when we bought that one in Whitehorse I took it to Red Deer for paint. Was a nice machine flew a little different than the non turbo one we had. May have been the Horton stoll kit on it none of us could put a finger on it though.
