Re: Business flying slowing down?

Buddy of mine just got hired at a new corporate outfit in the east. They can’t even get him a sim date till spring 2023. Flight safety has a huge backlog on some sims right now A big issue with training providers, is that they too have been raided of their instructors. Which means, they are severel...

Re: Does Arinc have the ability to display Jeppeson approach plates

Boeing bought Jeppeson in 2000. Smooth move there. Boeing bought Foreflight. Now Foreflight will be the only app, once once JeppFD is ended, to display Jepp charts ect. Have been a Arinc user for quite some time, and their app is the Platinum standard by a long shot! Foreflight, which we have been s...

Arinc Direct

Any users of this product who can answer my question whether Arinc is capable of displaying the Jeppeson approach plates. Now that Jepp has announced their sutting down Jepp HDpro, and moving it to Foreflight am trying to figure out if Arinc direct app can anyway be linked to them. Have been doing s...

Re: Leaded Fuel article

The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) shares the Environmental Protection Agency's (EPA) concerns about lead emissions from small aircraft. Owners and operators of more than 167,000 piston-engine aircraft operating in the United States rely on aviation gasoline (avgas) to power their aircraft. A...

Re: Leaded Fuel article

A reason lead is required in avgas is it lubricates the valves in the valve guide. The basic engine design of the air cooled engine has not changed, like forever. Some of this reason is because the engine manufacturers are under scrutiny and open of litigation when an engine fails and the lawyers co...

Re: Ethiopian Airlines: 'No survivors' on crashed Boeing 737 max

I have reached out to a good friend of mine who is very much in the know, believe me, and he has let me know there is no stick shaker or pusher on this machine. It has stall strips on the inboard wings. "it really causes the column to shake at high angles of attack." Three electric systems help with...

Re: Ethiopian Airlines: 'No survivors' on crashed Boeing 737 max

Not a Boeing pilot, all corporate stuff for me. The trim “runaway” is quite manageable as soon as it is recognized on the current machine I am flying F-900LX. The Falcon has no stick shaker or pusher, though the Challenger 601/605 I have also flown did. Read most of the informative posts on this thr...

No expierence on the old 3, but with reference to forgetting control locks, a biz jet out of Boston shows that it can be forgotten.

Check this web site out:
www.code7700.com

Click on the normals drop down and look at international operation manual, and two other ones below. When open click on each link to expand. Its written by a USA pilot, but very relevant never the less.

Re: Pilots warned to stay alert for Toronto incursion risks

I've got an idea. Barrier crossing gates like the railways use at road crossing. That will be the first line of defence, then those massive road spikes that you see over in London England pointing right ar your tires. If that fails to stop a speeding incursion, arm the control tower with a .50 calib...

Re: Numbers

My take about World War II was the fact that all the brightest minds were brought together for one purpose. And that was to "win the war". Collectively they engineered amazing accomplishments. Nuclear bomb, ICBM, Swept wing, Turbine engine to name a few. The need for horsepower in the form of a inte...

Just looking at some data about airframes built and was surprised to see that in WWII the British built 125,000 airframes. In comparison, the Boeing 737, has only 9700 to date.

Gives you a sence of magnitude of the war effort.

Seeing how we are exploring ancient aviation terminology, where did "taxing" an aircraft come from? Or the "button" of the runway? Sorry, not trying to hijack the thread.

Re: Cat II Operations CYYZ

This particular instance it was CAT II. Private aircraft operate under CAR's 604. Which allows them to conduct a IFR approach, if the approach plate limits are met, to 1200 RVR. Which is of course CAT II limits. Not CAT III, which is even lower limits. So again, the question is, can ATC deny a PIC a...

Cat II Operations CYYZ

Looking for knowledge about Cat II operations at CYYZ in particular when the weather is forecasted or in fact at those limits. I was talking with a colleague of my the other day who flies a Biz-jet and was sharing with me that on more than one occasion when attempting to land at CYYZ, his intended d...

Re: AC Lining Up with a Taxiway SFO...?

Not an airline guy, but been a corporate pilot for 30 plus years. So I am wondering if this type of aircraft has a runway awerness equipment? The aircraft we fly gives a audio announcement when approaching a runway both airborne and while taxing onto a runway.
