A few bags of almonds or a cup of cashews can upset my digestion I've noticed.

Re: How much is the new pension worth?

I think I understand what you are saying. If I personally contribute $2900/month to an RRSP I get a tax refund for that which lowers the overall cost. Is that what you mean?

Re: How much is the new pension worth?

What a wonderful tool. If anyone is wondering I figured I'd need to save an average of $2900 per month for 30 years at 5.4% rate of return in an RRSP to equal what I would get from an AC pension (around $2.6m if I live to be 85). This is being conservative on career advancement and assuming you neve...

How much is the new pension worth?

I'm doing some salary comparison and was wondering if it would be possible how much the pension is worth for a someone hired today. I guess it would depend on how long you live right? Is it paid for life for you and your spouse? Let's say you have 30 years until retirement at 65 and will live to 85 ...

Re: New TC Cannabis rules

Some companies have 2 months on/2 months off schedules. Voyageur I think does, for example. You could smoke weed your entire first month off. Also, float pilots, water bomber pilots, etc could smoke all winter and just stop 28 days before coming back to work for the summer.

Re: What bases and routes do you think the A220 will have?

If the MAX is out for a while and the A220 doesn't have ETOPS what would the logical choice be to do the Vancouver-Hawaii flying?

He wants a higher return on his investment. But it's unlikely anyone is going to offer more. The government could stop the deal but it seems unlikely.

That is what many people predicted. There could also be a three tier product with Transat as an ULCC but that seems a bit complicated.

Re: DOH merge.

I've said this before in this thread- It's not like Everyone at TS has been there for 30 years. There's a fairly even distribution from 0-30, with more day 0's being hired every month. As far as I see it, not only is the entire group just a fraction of AC, everyone would dovetail in pretty homogene...

That would make sense since flying the plane is the easy part. Dealing with different rules and operations at international airports is the hard part.

They bought $620 million in cash for $520 million plus an airline for free? Something doesn't add up there.

Re: AC offer AT $13 per share

you will not be ALPA when the dust settles ACPA must be loving the timing of this buy out since it means there is no way AC pilots are going to vote for ALPA now. The conspiracy theorist in me can't help wonder if that was a small part of the reasoning for the company to jump on this deal. I suspec...

Re: AC offer AT $13 per share

During the Canadian merger there was a lot of strife over the fact that Canadian law didn't recognize DOH as the basis for seniority. There was a push to change the law after the fiasco of the merger. Does anyone know if the law was ever changed to recognize DOH, or if it's still the way it was back...

Re: AC offer AT $13 per share

It will be a formula not DOH. How much that formula favors AC pilots depends on how well Transat was doing when they got bought out. Does anyone know? I'm actually kind of surprised Transat pilots want DOH. My image of the company is widebody Captains with less than 10 years in. Maybe I'm way off. B...

Re: 737 Max 8 Simulators

ALPA will not be insisting on specialized MCAS simulator training. I'm surprised to hear that. I thought ALPA may even insist on some kind of master disconnect switch for the MCAS system. Something that would still allow normal use of the trim and autopilot but just no MCAS. Weren't ALPA responsibl...

Re: WestJet to be sold in friendly deal to Onex Corp. for $5 billion

The creation of WestJet Link is an indication that Encore was planned to be sold off even before the takeover. It's creating competition among feeders to keep the prices low. Just like Georgian, Jazz, Sky Regional. It wouldn't surprise me if WestJet also has something in the works with Georgian too ...
