Re: Northern operator as a first job?

Get your instructor rating and go to the airline asap. 1500 hr instructors are getting hired at westjet, transat, flair and other airlines. Airlines are fun, you get paid more, work less, and get travel benefits. You could use those to go explore the north on your many days off. Nope. I have no des...

Northern operator as a first job?

I’m thinking of heading north and drop my resume around. Which operators have historically hired newbies for FO and/or ramp to flight positions? I’m particularly interested on turboprop medevac ops (Keewatin, Air Tindi…).

Re: Exams affected by strikes

Hey

I'm in the same boat. Pacific Region. I emailed them requesting an update or ETA and I haven't heard back. Sit tight, it shouldn't be long. I'm somewhat glad I have a bit of extra time to keep studying! :P

Environmental impact of aviation

Climate change has been in vogue for at least the last 20 years, and became really trendy this last year. Hopeless governments have been striking pretty hard the automotive sector for example. Apparently the EU charges 90€ for each extra gram of CO2 per km to manufacturers that don’t meet the emissio...

Re: CPAER Study Tips

Hey I personally find the Sharpers Edge books a bit slow on getting to the point, and hard to read. They tried to ‘simplify’ the CPAER material on making it more ‘cool to read’ but personally it confuses me more. I used Harvs Air online ground school. Really detailed, LOTS of material, especially on...

Re: Renting out a private aircraft?

I’m the definition of ‘low experienced kid’. Early twenties and around 200 hours. I’ve flown complex single and multi engine aircraft owned by individuals and performed safely. The checkouts were satisfactory and my relationship with the owners are friendly and filled with trust. I trusted their exp...

Re: Reapplying for lost radio license

I called hopelessly but finally someone picked up, then my instinct was saying ‘oh hi, are you actually a person?’. The lady politely laughed and apologized for their unavailability.

I got my roc on the mail today, thank you folks.

Re: Reapplying for lost radio license

You can apply in writing with Industry Canada for a replacement certificate. I did it several years ago. They were very helpful and the process took less than a week. https://www.ic.gc.ca/eic/site/015.nsf/eng/h_00005.html#roca4 I lost my Restricted Operator Certificate - Aeronautical (ROC-A) and wo...

Reapplying for lost radio license

Hello

I misplaced my radio license ages ago, but now I need it for some paperwork and I can’t find a way to apply for a copy. I tried through TC and Industry Canada but I didn’t get any assistance. Any thoughts?

Thank you

AME needed - Kingston area

Hello I’m looking for an AME based at Kingston, ON or nearby. I’m planning to purchase a C172 and I’d like to assess it, and if everything looks decent, it needs an engine overhaul. Is someone available next weekend for the first assessment? I’ll pay for transportation if you’re reasonably far. Thanks

Re: IFR Written Exam

I recommend going through the CAP GEN, get used to read and understand some of the stuff in the IAP charts. Buy the Harvs Air course and do it from A to Z. You will feel that it’s too much, specially when many of the sections are CPL stuff. They will over prepare you, but it’s just enough to get the...

Re: Did I waste Time And Money?

Hey I don't think that it is a waste of time. I started my flight training after 5 years 'playing around' with my flight simulator. The transition from computer 'flying' to the real thing was actually pretty easy for me. I was happy to see that I was already quite familiar with the aircraft instrume...

Random Q400 tips

Hey Q400 pilots

Would you mind sharing Q400 tips/facts, specially related with landing techniques, automation/fmc-autopilot relationship and the anti-ice system. I am planning to put them together in a document for my own reference and for other pilots.

Thank you !
