You said that you thought the story was more plausible than the hocus pocus Bible. Maybe I misinterpreted you. If you don't believe in the Priory of Sion then, then the tale in the Da Vinci Code should not be "plausible" to you. That's just how I see it.

Here's a link from Wikipedia about the Priory of Sion (I chose wikipedia out of other searches on google because this is considered to be a secular non-biased site...many other websites however are consistent with this info): http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Priory_of_Sion Here's a link from wikipedia a...

I think the story is more plausable then the hocus pocus the bible tells You know it's funny- atheists always mock christians for believing in the Bible and what it says about Jesus. They say things like "you believe it without any concrete proof..." or, "how can you believe in something with so ma...

altiplano, I understand your frustrations with the Catholic church. In fact, I'm not ashamed to admit that I share *some* of the same frustrations as you. Before I became a Christian myself, I saw the Church as an "evil empire" that wanted to control people's lives. I didn't think there was any prob...

Organized religon in general and the Catholic Church in particular are just a big cult of fanatics trying to tell you and me how to live our lives and what to believe under the threat of burning in hell. I say burn your books, have your babies, and blow me you catholic pricks. Sounds to me as thoug...

It's a very messy scenario indeed. If the UN or the USA remains idle and lets Iran be, then they won't piss off the predominantly muslim population there and cause further alienation against the west; however, they risk the possibility that Iran will use their nukes and risk the possibility of more ...

Countries like Iran and North Korea need to be watched very closely. Both countries are very anti-west, and both possess WMDs. Not a very good combination, if you ask me.

Getting rid of the world's religions, or, converting everyone to buddhism won't change much. There are many many many crimes committed that have nothing at all to do with religion at all.

I'd agree with CID- we need more education.

Wouldn't it be better to wish for no extremists? Religion itself is not responsible for all the evil, but it's the people who cause the harm.

Saying that religion is the cause of evil is like arguing that "guns kill people."

I agree with exeption to the whole God in schools bit, I believe that seperating religion from state must be held to the T. I as a Jew do not like religious propaganda being prostituted to me If you don't want religion "prostituted" to you, then go to a public school. If you're attending a Catholic...

I am not very familiar with Josephus' work, so I can't really comment on it too much. Jesus' story has obviously influenced many lives, and Christianity is a religion that has become accepted all over the world. I don't think there are many people out there who still worship Hercules, nor any other ...

You could easily do a google search and find many other such claims that Jesus ...

Pretty much all major historical scholars agree that Jesus did in fact exist. There does appear to be very little disagreement on this fact.

Where people do disagree is on whether or not He was whom He says He was (the son of God).

I'm really not in the mood to argue theology this morning, but suffice it to say that Jesus Christ was never recorded as having condemned homosexuality. In fact, he never said anything about it at all. Paul had a dim view of it, but I'd hazard a guess that that was his personal view, and not someth...

W sqaured, I would definetly agree that there is a tremendous amount of hypocrisy and ignorance amongst Christians today. That letter to Laura is old, and pretty ignorant. Those bizarre laws were given to Moses to pass down to the Jews. Christians, however, do not follow these laws, as it clearly states in the New Testament. Some Jews today still practice some of those old laws.
