Re: Air Canada Interviews
I don't understand why anyone in their right mind would be applying to Air Canada right now. Have you not learned a thing reading these forums? What is being said is REAL. The posters here are not making this shit up just for something to do. If you are a sadist and like misery, then I guess you are...

herding cats, moaning, golf and other pointless sports
I find this internet stuff kind of fun, kind of depressing. I have been flying commercially since 1993. Air Canada is my 7th company. I have been laid off 5 times and worked with at least 300 individual pilots. These individuals have worked overseas, instructed, flown military with several AF's; Aust...

I worked for SSV in the UK. Per diem was 96 pounds a day. No tax implications. First year at SSV per diems approx $very good. Be carefull what you discuss. For the longest time waitress/bar "maid" tips were tax free, not anymore.

"Scope protections are included that restrict domestic outsourcing while providing a diversification of our Tier 2 flying away from Jazz." The above statement has the potential of creating huge changes in the Canadian aviation industry. Also, as the age of new hires is all over the board a DCP isn't...

I second/third? the hamilton area. Great natural areas for biking hiking skiing etc. I'm 5 minutes from downtown yet have deer/turkeys coyotes etc in my backyard. The scenery on the mac campus is spectacular when the weather warms up. As for the drive. I've been driving to yyz for over 7 years. I'm ...

I Don't have a phone. Save your $600-$1400 a year. You will need it. Payphones are all over the place. 99% of hotels have free internet ie. skype. Calling cards are cheap and in an emergency everyone around you has a phone. Plus, haven't you heard cell phones cause brain tumors??? By the way good lu...

Re: Good job yyz ATC
The WJ pilot may or may not have seen the ac on the runway in time to stop. I can't imagine a T/O roll where the pilot isn't heads up. Kinda hard to stay on the runway I'd think. Anyway, they were well into the T/O roll when Jazz went over the line. A similar event happened a few weeks ago in yyz. T...

Good job yyz ATC
Earlier this week a jazz ac had a runway incursion in yyz. They admitted they had passed the hold line and rather than continue across decided to stop in the middle of the runway. Thankfully ATC yelled abort several times and westjet was able to perform a high speed reject. I just wanted to say than...

Re: 757 for Hawaii?
Point to consider. C3, SSV and sunwing all use/used foreign pilots. So does canjet and now (potentially) WJ. Difference is the first three also sent Canadians abroad. Canadian pilots were employed and taxes paid. Canjet hired german nationals due to no "available canadians" . WJ may be hiring Finnis...

Re: How does WestJet keep this stuff out of the news??
There was a bloody notam. The runway was lonng enough. They screwed up. Westjet does not get the same treatment in the media that AC does. Everyone loves to hate the big guy. When westjet becomes a big guy they better improve there training. Enough said...

The CC machines are in response in part to the FA's retirement fund. No cash no "tips."
Vending machines wouldn't help with CARS requirement.

Interesting post. My first twin job took about 3 years in 1997. The beech captains had on average 8000 hours. One very capable guy had over 17000 hours. Now these guys were not happy and looking for advancement. This was at a very slow time in the industry. You have to realize nothing is more import...

The comment about the French I find kinda funny. I have worked with several people who are French or lived in France. They quite often have commented on the rudeness of quebecers. Criticism of their spoken french is often. Even a French citizen said how he was made fun of in quebec for his accent. T...

I'm curious about insurance. I'm pretty sure you can't get auto insurance without a valid license. I suppose you can fly without but after five uninsured accidents life gets expensive.
