Re: long wait for ADB

On the bright side, I received an invoice for the first time in roughly 15 years for processing my medical. It’s a step in the right direction! No way, you too? Did you happen to do your renewal via telemedicine? Because that's the only change for me and I never got charged before either. I did not...

Re: long wait for ADB

I tried to find up an email from TC regarding a follow up on my renewal. It basically outlined that regardless of how much in advanced you submit, they will not even begin to process your renewal until 90 days prior to expiration. My company informed me a while back that they were something in the t...

Wow. Pretty cruisey. I was doing 600 hrs a year when I was at Porter. Not much flying going on or just over staffed with lost of RES?

Re: Incorrectly logging instrument time

We have previously agreed that if a plane is hopping over from Hamilton to Kitchener on a VFR itinerary and joining the circuit for landing on a clear day and just eyeballing it, that's not valid instrument time. But! If you are the aircraft behind them and you have the ILS dialed in and you are us...

In 2022, 38 qualified candidates as per CBA were bypassed with varying service up to 10 years. I would use the term likely very lightly.

Re: Airline radio procedures

I went from an Air Tractor to a Q400 when I made the transition to airlines a while ago. You're many steps ahead of where I was, if you have experience transmitting on a VHF radio. There is some good information above, but I think it's important to brush up on ICAO standard radio phraseology. ...

Re: Do you think Flair is a stable career choice?

The goldilocks balance of lifestyle, compensation, and work satisfaction. The 737 has the perfect-sized fuel tanks. It goes far enough that you get good credit and lots of days off and not so far that you have to worry about the back of the clock and time zones. Does that mean the red eye turns whe...

Must? or Every effort. 13.4.4 A Reserve FCM will be considered on call at all times during his RAP. Two hours is the minimum advance notice to report for Duty. Crew Scheduling will make every effort to contact and assign Duty to a FCM on Reserve as far in advance as possible and the FCM will make ev...

My local strip owner uses a blower too. Only blows 2/3's of the runway which leaves about 2000'. More then enough and we run 8.00x6 tires on our 170. I haven't heard him bitching about shear pins mind you.

Re: Your flashlight in your flight bag?

I nerded out and picked up a Fenix TK20R half a dozen years ago. Zero issues. I think I have charged it once? Looks like v2.0 is out. After having 1000 lumens, I wouldn't buy anything less. The variable lumens is nice. 10 is much better than 1000 inside the flight deck  https://www.fenixlightin...

Re: YTZ FOs! Where do you live? Jk I’m not fbi.

When I worked for Porter, I lived (and still live) in London. Reserve was short lived. I think it was a few months if I recall? It was easy to hold the long 4 day pairings, but there were only a small percentage of them. I used to run 3 (4) day pairings + 1 split a month. Lots of nights on the road,...

Re: Know Your Worth & Ask For It

Has anyone asked for $500? I have. $525/day. I got relatively close to it on a "total compensation" package. I have also been paid well above that. Know your worth and stick to it is very sound advise. Total compensation is key as I have taken jobs north of 1k per day. Some times HR just plunks you...

Smartwings in Europe is posting availability this winter for crews to fly Canadian registered aircraft at Sunwing. Currently there are six Sunwing airplanes operating in Europe...

GoHome Leg, believe me when I say the lecture is not required. I am not making an irrational or emotionally influenced decision. I have done my own risk assessment, lifestyle assessment, career assessment, and I made a decision based on what was best for myself and my family. I stated a few facts an...
