Re: Initial 30 minute assessment still wonderlic?

I don't know why you guys are so hostile to me for no reason at all, but that's okay, it is what it is. I'll just say to new hopefuls who are coming into this thread wanting to learn something that not all ATCs are so elitist; I've heard from plenty who think that the tests are not perfectly designe...

That is a bit baffling. I don't know if I have the right personality for ATC; but I wonder why my comments would warrant such a response from you? What exactly did you not like about them?

Re: Initial 30 minute assessment still wonderlic?

again, the test is meant to test you, not you and your friend who has already done it. if you cant score high enough on your own, you won't pass FEAST without help, and if you use help to pass FEAST then you'll wash out of training. so do whatever you want, but you aren't doing yourself any favours...

Re: Initial 30 minute assessment still wonderlic?

that's the whole point of the test, to see how you can do it on the first try. same with FEAST, they even say during FEAST that you can retake it if you fail, but if you fail the first one and pass the second try, you are much less likely to pass overall. I haven't taken the FEAST yet since I did t...

Re: Initial 30 minute assessment still wonderlic?

My best advice is to not count on getting in. Go about your everyday life and put your application in the back of your mind. If you get called for the next step, excellent. If you don’t hear from them or hear a negative result, then it wasn’t meant to be. There isn’t anything you can do to score be...

I was kinda hoping for 20 hours a week lol. I'd be willing to take 1/3rd the pay for that.

Is part-time work as an ATC an impossibility?

As the title says; is every single ATC/FSS in all of Canada a full-time employee? Is there any possibility at all to potentially only work part time?

Thanks!

Re: YVR In-person Assessment (Jan 2019)

Well, I received an email informing that I did not make it, so if you guys didn't receive that email, that's probably good news for you. Grats to those who passed and good luck to you guys.

Re: YQM VFR National Course - November 2019

Which FIR are you guys in if you don't mind me asking? The supervisor at YVR told us there won't be any VFR courses here in the foreseeable future because of contract negotiations... I wonder if there's any possibility for national VFR courses.

Re: Decline an in-person assessment?

Was invited to the May 2018 assessment and again to the Jan 2019 assessment. Unfortunately, no dates worked for me again due to work and being out of area. :( I wrote the online assessment in Jan 2018, so will likely be doing that again soon and hope I can make an assessment sometime this year. I'm...

Well, I guess that would be after the interview, except you don't get to know what stream you're assigned to anymore so from that perspective, never.

Re: YVR In-person Assessment (Jan 2019)

I was told we'd get our results soon after the last interviews are over, like july 20something.

But yeah, I didn't even check my account, I figured if results were out there would be people posting here so I just have a tab of this forum open and f5 it once a day lol.

Re: YVR In-person Assessment (Jan 2019)

Hey @aslam, thanks for the update. I actually really like the prospect of a grade 3 or lower tower, because it seems to be the perfect balance between stress, flexibility and salary. Plus most of the towers are in lower mainland, which is awesome. The only one I was iffy about is prince george, but ...

Re: YVR In-person Assessment (Jan 2019)

Got an email for interview dates! So excited. When are you booked in for? I'm booked info this Wednesday morning. Are you before or after that? Also, what are you doing to prep? I had my interview on the 20th. It went okay, not great but not absolutely horribly, although I am less confident now tha...

Re: Notice period for assessment or bootcamp.

I don't know the answer to your question, but we got our interview invites on Monday so that was the 10th? And the first interview date was on the 13th. But there were also other options way later like July 19th. So I guess the situation is different, not sure how much that helps you. Also, if you'r...

Jan 20something. We still have not (or at least I haven't, dunno about the others) gotten our interviews yet. We also did the old w-sim test, not FEAST.

Re: YVR IFR course offers?

Sorry, I don't know how FEAST goes. YVR is I think the only region stuck with the old in-person assessment, and even then I think we were the last group to do it; they seem to be switching to FEAST too.

But good luck to you, help you do well.

Re: YVR IFR course offers?

Still waiting for our interviews... kinda jealous of the winnipeg toronto guys who are getting/have gotten theirs already despite having the in-person assessment later than ours, but it is what it is. Plus now I got time to go tree planting and then travel a bit, so that's nice. Fingers crossed they...

How was the ITA kels? Was it more/less/about the same difficulty as you expected? And congrats Lisa! You know this process is so long and we have to wait months without any information whatsoever sometimes it just... doesn't feel even feel real. It's like that around-the-world cruise trip brochure y...
