Re: Flair Hiring B737 FO's
I think it's pretty smart to have a YYC base. Swoop won't be going into mainlines hub. Sure anything can happen like Montreal but I always knew YYC would reopen. Head maintenance base, we have a lot of flights in and out of there, it just makes economic sense. Also I can see this being more attract...

Re: any employment opportunity for foreign pilots?
Apply to any regional that flies out of the province you’re located. E.g. Pasco in BC, Calm Air in MB, Pascan in QC, etc
They’re all hiring and desperate for experienced pilots. Usually they don’t care about your status, as long as you can stay and work in Canada for the duration of your bond.

Re: Hiring Minimums
Information is correct. Class 5 starts early next month. Many new instructors brought on to help with the influx of new hire classes. Training in Europe also correct using our own metal to get to and from vs. Two flight commute on third party carriers. Swoop 738s are going to fly transatlantic, or ...

Re: Hiring Minimums
Swoop has been running a new hire ground school consisting of 15-18 pilots every week for almost a month now from what I understand, and there's no end in sight. Not correct unfortunately. I’d be surprised if they had the capacity to do 15 new hires per month let alone per week. Any classes up unti...

Re: DEC Westjet Swoop
The schedule is a mix of single and multi day pairings and the maximum is 6 days on with mandatory 2 days off after that. Thanks, but how many days/month of work and/or reserve is normal? I know 18/19 is the max but what is average? Looking at the route map out of YEG it's mostly quite long sectors...

Spirit and Frontier just announced a merger down in the States. Most likely that’s gonna happen here in Canada with the ULCCs at some point.

That’s how low cost airlines work, lots of bases and few or no layovers. Just look at Ryanair in Europe.kiaszceski wrote: ↑Tue Jan 18, 2022 4:25 pm So for the next 4-5 years we can expect bases in :
YEG
YYC
YUL
YHZ
(YWG)
That seems lot of bases? Are those, same bases as Lynx?

Does anyone know the pilot recruitment email? I got an invite to an interview in December but wasn’t able to attend any of the available dates and haven’t heard back since. I’m still very interested and would like to reach out to see if I can get another date. Feel free to PM me, thanks. Pilotjobs@...

Re: Road trip!
Have you considered pilot in waiting for summit? Dispatch one not ramp. You can learn a lot about IFR rules, Cars, etc . You can make survival money and have direct contact with pilots (can get some jump seat rides, etc). Eventually you’ll fly the Dornier or ATR. If you don’t mind ramp (which is ter...

Anyone who’s been around the industry, and especially around startups world wide knows the perils of rapid expansion prior to achieving consistent profitability. Jetsgo was the Canadian poster child for this strategy. When cash became tight, as it perpetually was at SG, they simply announced furthe...

Re: Summit Air position
From my experience, in smaller companies flying positions usually open up when someone gets injured, pregnant, quit, etc. So they usually need someone to fill the gap in 2 weeks or less and because you’re doing a good job on the ground it’s just easier for them to hire someone OTS other than train y...
