Re: ATC beyond NAV Canada

Certainly don't feel bad if you didn't make it through FEAST. Many, many don't. You can wait the 18 months (used to be 12) and then try again. As for trying in other countries, unfortunately, that won't work. They only hire their own citizens to go through the program. There is a company in the Emi...

Re: How long were you Eligible for Offer?

I applied in Summer of 2015. One of the last of us that did the W-SIM....scored high enough on everything and streamed IFR in late fall 2015 (missed that round of offers). Spring of 2016 was offered standby VFR which I accepted. Studied my butt off in hopes someone would back out, nothing happened ...

This guy/gal is correct. Do some digging. There is substantial information on the old process AND the new process for MULTIPLE FIRs on this forum...You clearly haven't done your research.

Re: ATC beyond NAV Canada

I'm sorry that you weren't successful in the application. Would you ever be interested in becoming a railway traffic controller? Edit: Seems like there's a separate testing process for FSS. Perhaps you'd want to apply for that, get your foot in the door then apply for a transfer to ATC down the road?

Re: IFR Training Difficulty

1) I was told it's both the steep learning curve as well as aptitude (so both committing the necessary amount of time and in some cases, difficult to perform) 2) Same as above. Sometimes it's student not studying hard enough and sometimes the student can't meet the standards despite how hard they tr...

Re: Frustrations of a Military ATC and the Big Leap

Contrary to what Lotro has said, I think there is a fast track option for military ATC controllers...I've met a few military controllers who has received an offer from Nav Canada to skip the entire application process and to receive a conversion course/OJT. Not only that but they would receive simi...

Can you elaborate? It was my understanding that trainees don't get any vacation days during their training.

Re: Notice period for assessment or bootcamp.

I received my FEAST invitation on a Thursday or a Friday for a time slot the following week. The Monday following was the only day I could do it due to my work schedule so I had about 1-2 business days heads-up. I think for my boot camp invitation, I had about a week or two heads-up. I don't remembe...

I was in the assessment early May and got am in got VFR. Anyone else!? I remember they said there were far more IFR spots than VFR spots. Congrats on the VFR offer though and lucky you, you'll get to see those planes through the big windows! Also I was wondering if anyone wants to make a Slack grou...

Wait so Jan 20something (but Jan 23rd as mentioned by someone else) was the last w-sim assessment session for 2019?

Does showing "assessment" on your profile indicate that youve passed the online test? If so, how can you be sure of it?

When is YVR's next in-person assessment session?

Hi y'all. Just trying to see if anyone knows the next in-person assessment session for Vancouver FIR. I want to know how long someone would have to wait after recently writing their online assessment. Edit: Also, it's my understanding that you go through the selection in the FIR you applied in...but...

Re: Wonderlic test?? Status: Assessment

If you see Status: Assessment you passed. The red/yellow/green was for their old site. Wait times depend on your score, the region, and when they last did the in person assessment. Could be anywhere from next week to next year to be honest, so just put it on the back of your mind until you actually...
