Re: Emirates after AC
The Ceremony….. question is, how many tuned in , the ratings and more importantly what the critics say. I eagerly await the outcomes. :drinkers: :drinkers: Patience, my friend. The pay-per-view event of the year is almost live. Don’t blink. :goodman: I'm glad to see the new generation of pilots in ...

Re: Emirates after AC
New FOs at Emirates take home more than the equivalent of $200k CAD to start. You don't have to be old to be a boomer. Ok, I thought it was clear, in CANADA, these companies are not going to pay new hires 200k. If they pay that well over there, why aren’t more FOs leaving for browner pastures. Alot...

Re: Pilot Hiring 2025
Hey anyone knows if this is normal, I applied in end of June got an interview mid July, everything went great, medical and references were done fairly quick but never received the background check email, it’s been 8 weeks. From what I read I should probably have received the background check. Check...

Re: New YYC Sim facility with CAE
Im curious; why do some people think thata 737 can replace a Q? It seems so obvious that im confused why it's suggested so often. Even if you try replace it with a smaller jet like an embraer or A220, nothing would come close to meeting the Q's efficiency for low demand short haul markets. Unless i...

Re: Skycare or Thunder Airlines?
Thunder without a question. Thunder tries to follow the rules Skyscare tries not to get caught breaking then. They're disturbingly good at it. Skycare has a nasty bond, and a nasty game they play that forces you to stay. Call it "Hotel Skycare". Start as a Metro/WW FO. Just before your bond is up, ...

Re: 67% yes
PIT seats will all be full. Whether Contract 2023 meets the staffing and experience needs of the operation over the next 3+ years will not be known for several bids. This is totally false. They've been struggling hard this year to attract candidates and have been giving out job offeres less than 10...

Re: How the hell do people train in the GTA?
The landscape of flight training is shifting in this country and eventually it will almost all be program structured with airline partnership just like the european system. We already have Jazz and Flair running their own schools. So i can see in the future people would have to travel far away from ...

Re: No Fly Lists.
Please, give me an example of anyone being placed on a no fly list due to their opinions rather than their violent actions or CREDIBLE terrorism threats. Because really, over half of Canada wouldn’t be able to fly based on their public opinion of Justin Trudeau if what you are saying was even remot...

What about people who call "jihad" on Palestinians? Would you be okay with them being put on the no fly list? There's countless videos of those calling for palestinian genocide and those actually commiting it over there.

Re: It is imminent.......be ready.
In every media publications when it comes down to numbers they only ever seem to post the top seniority widebody captains as a reference. Why are we not countering this?? The public needs to see the 40% that are on flatpay making well under 100k

Re: Strike vote
Is there something wrong with binding arbitration? Seems like a judge-like person looks at both sides and makes a decision that is reasonable. I was a member of a union that had a no strike clause and binding arbitration as policy. It worked out quite well for us at that time and I remember the com...

Re: It is imminent.......be ready.
I had a dream yr 1 fo was $100hr That's more of a nightmare. It would only equate to 90k/year. Imagine after all this struggle and fighting, that the flag carrier only manages to match the same starting salary as Flair (an airline that charges $50 fares) $100 is pitifully low and should get a no vote

Re: Starting Pay $215k now at AC
Lol...starting pay is $60k per year Can we stop throwing around the number 60? We start at 58k. I know its not a huge difference but we need to be very transparent and fiercly reminding everyone that is the unbelievable salary we make at the flag carier. That way when the battle heats up hopefully ...

Re: OT opportunities?
I didn't know picking it up was looked down upon right now. I agree that helping out the pilot group at this time is more worthwhile than short-term gain. Hopefully the new contract would be enough that one wouldn't need OT or picking up a 2nd job to get by Isn't the plan to add at least another 120...

OT opportunities?
Hello. I'm considering AC vs some other options. I was initially leaning towards AC but now have become doubtful due to just how far back they are in terms of pay vs every one else and how much one would have to struggle the first year. The only way i see surviving on $58k in a big city is picking u...

Re: The Air Canada OTS thread
Hi all, Email invitations are now going out to OTS for interviews in March for April ground school starts. Would it really be that soon after??? I thought the wait time post interview to hear back was around 4 months. So if you interview March shouldn't you expect to start during the summer? If suc...
