Pretty much true. I got a shot with Canadian North for dash 8 with 250 hrs, passed first interview and then blew it big in sim.

I took ATPL/IATRA course in March and studied/refreshing my memory at home.
Got 94%. I know I failed on METAR, which was brutal and I missed viscous hydroplaning.
Overall not too hard, just study and you should be fine

My friend did this many years ago when needed employee.
They just want to check if you are paying attention to details.

A guy who was "something in West Jet" decided to start another UUULC carrier.
Info from first hand is that there is 30 MAX 8 on order with another 20 as option.
