Re: Strike vote
96 percent of union members participated in the vote.
98 percent voted in favor of labor action.
If you do the math it is 94 percent supporting the strike.
Negotiations will continue in June.

Re: Can employer refuse you providing a reference?
Thank you everyone for your replies. I don't think I would still have a job if I deserved a negative reference. However one of the reasons I want out is that company keeps coming up with more and more little ridiculous rules that make less and less sense. For all I know once the rule is out, there i...

Can employer refuse you providing a reference?
My employer has recently issued a new rule essentially saying that a professional reference letter will only be provided by HR and only upon resignation. All other references from company employees if obtained are declared to be only personal references. My question is - Can employer refuse providin...

Re: How are things
That Alaskan 737 was new over 20 years back. Hope it is the last one we bought of that kind of "new". We are mostly kept in the dark. Do not have access even to current schedules. I guess it is all big commercial secret. Though Flair has got TC certification to operate scheduled service into US and ...

Re: Flair 737 Job
Unless you are desperate look elsewhere. This place is beyond repair. Only getting worse. At least have a plan to get out by the time your bond is reduced to manageable amount. This is one of the places that will make you regret you chose aviation career at all. The longer you stay, the more you wil...

Re: Meet Swoop - WestJet's ultra-low-cost carrier has a name, a home and a purpose
I sure hope the bank can give me a loan for my 737 type rating...maybe use my house as collateral. I'd really like to fly the 737 and don't mind pink. How low are we going to go? I have never seen hiring like this in my career, and yet we have what I thought was a respectable company trying to driv...

Re: Flair PAY
Actually it is 5 GDO/ 5 SDO so far. Union is there now so it may change to 10 GDO in time. LHS pay originally started at 90k and was bumped to around 95k later, topped at 138k after 10 years of servise. One point is after 120k there is really no change in paycheck due to taxes. I did not see it anyw...

737 ad hoc charters, whatever that means. Schedules do exist, but flying after a phone call is not uncommon due to nature
of the job. Start pay is higher than industry average, top pay is lower than industry average.

Re: Flair Air
Flair Air is doing work for Cubana. 737 bases are YYZ, YYC, YLW. They hire a few pilots every year. Time to upgrade will depend on your performance and the need for captains/amount of work. Start pay is better then WJ or AC, not sure it will stay the same in the long run. When upgraded you start at ...

Re: TC airport pass.
Yes, you need to have a current employer in order to apply for a pass. No way you can apply on your own. You will be issued a temporary pass which is valid for six months, certain restrictions apply. But this will give you the opportunity to work while waiting for your sequrity clearance to get trou...

The end of the story - had to provide every peace of evidence regarding my 5 year history,
TC contacted every foreign employer I worked for to get the confirmation.
Finally I got the red pass after six months.

727 and 737 are based out of YYC flying Shell emloyees to Albian - AL4 from as far as YYT and YHZ. Open for on demand passenger chartes as well. Another 727 freighter is based in YYZ. Expecting a second 737 early in 2009 - probable base YYZ-YHM. My guess Flair will continue to hire pilots for 737, h...
