Re: Porter vs AC

With less than optimal load factors porter is not making enough money to keep the first fins past heavy check. Their aircraft orders are to ensure a revolving door of new fins to replace the older ones. Having AC buy them has been Deluce’s game plan since their inception. Won’t happen. As for the e...

Re: CFO's resignation

Sry, someone moving on is a white flag??? You must have thought Westjet was doomed when they let Saretsky go than. The CFO's resignation IS likely a red flag. Porter lost a major lawsuit earlier this year and is on the hook to pay JP Morgan about $130 million. Porter has also been doing sale/leaseb...

Re: CFO's resignation

Any thoughts on why would a long time Porter CFO would resign now while the company is in the middle of a huge expansion and throwing millions of dollars left and right ? After 14 years or so, what didnt he like all of a sudden about the numbers to the point of raising the white flag ? Sry, someone...

Re: Announced routes

Can you please post a link to the article and quote the statement about Porter being unprofitable for its entire existence? I googled it, and I could not find any reference. I too have been unable to reference this exact quote. You can find the case on Canlii.org . I’ve gone through (searching for ...

Re: ALPA Petition

There is a lot of misinformation about how ALPA works and what they can do for a pilot group. Think of it as a service provider with many specialists and departments . You have to go get those services, be informed of what is available and use it. Small airlines pilot groups could not afford the le...

Re: ALPA Petition

You can say that again. No the plan is not to insult people, it is to provide facts to quash rumours that individuals such as he continue to spread without any evidence to back them up. Now that the TA and summaries are out, here is a direct excerpt from the summary to hopefully kill this one dead:...

Re: Announced routes

Two fold: WestJet reducing its operation out east has reduced the available seats for customers. Porter’s expansion will at the very least replace those flights. Another is an increase in slot availability at Toronto pearson. Porter could make use of those slots to open new markets or increase freq...

Re: Announced routes

WestJet has significantly reduced flying in the east coast. A significant decision no doubt for WestJet. How will it be a different outcome for Porter? Re: Announced routes

I didn’t say EVERY airline pulling back. But many are, and that’s a fact. And yes, it’s exciting times at porter. I was simply using the appropriate thread to announce the new routes that porter is doing. And I also would advise any pilot with some seniority to stand pat and wait it out. Other than...

Re: Announced routes

Ottawa and Newark, Boston and T-Bay just announced. Q400 routes. Lots of airlines pulling back. Porter keeps up with the expansion plans! I understand your raw raw attitude as you seem to be a Porter pilot, however Flair continued their expansion despite not making enough money right up until they ...

Re: Are Air Canada pilots the lowest paid in the world?

Last month 41 pilots resigned from WestJet and their intake course had no shows As long as Flair doesn't collapse, WestJet's hiring issues will remain WestJet's labour issues will be resolved eventually. I would not leave WestJet for Flair. Will WestJet be here 30 years from now? Highly likely. Wil...

Re: New Scales Feb 2023

Porter has an aggressive delivery schedule for its E195, and needs to fill these seats. They have no choice but to pay this rate; otherwise, they'll have metal parked with hefty leasing costs. They are not paying these rates because they want to. Fifty aircraft between now and end-2024 means over 50...

Re: Profit Sharing this April ?

Altiplano You would be guessing wrong. Average ACPA pilot pay has declined year over year over year. That's not a guess. The widebody FOs that aren't on flat pay or B-scale are on a lower rate than pre-FOS. The widebody RPs are on a lower rate too. Formula pay doesn't start until year 5. 787 guys ar...
