Re: AC to have RJs ?
"Chandler" was ASA's call sign because they lost "Acey" to a military unit that had grandfathered rights to it. The unit was somehow changed and "Acey" was back up for grabbs... now it is back as ASA's callsign.

Can anyone corroborate the rumour that I have heard (not you Marv...) that they have dropped the requirement to write the exam at the completion of probation?

Free Dinner?
I am a fairly new F/O (hired in July '07), I just checked my mail folder at the end of my cycle and found a letter from Captain Dave Legge. Basically, I have been thanked for having accepted to significantly extend my duty day... and Air Canada would like to take my wife and I out to dinner for it (...

PFOs
So, for those guys that got the PFOs...have we figured out if there are 2 types of PFOs? I got the "may be reconsidered in 6 months" letter the first week of September. Is there a reapply letter out there? Does anyone know if there is a difference?

I can't speak for everybody but, I have had my app. walked in since 2005 by three different sources at different times, a 777 captain (with over 30 years in), an Air Canada instructor and finally by a pilot that was still on probation. Despite seeing many posts by different people on the forum with ...

Just remember that WestJet hasn't been around as long as "Big Red", I imagine that after 70 years things might not be as peachy... Pilots will always want more, as will the shareholders... and eventually it will come to a head... now multiply that by all of the employee groups... flight attendants, ...

AC Pass travel questions
I know that employee travel benefits kick in as of the first day but, how does it work... it must take a few days before travel cards and ID cards are made available... I have family members (parents specifically!) that are just curious...

Seniority at AC Mainline
Hi All,
Another question about the process, is it true that seniority is established in the class by basically pulling a number out of a hat? Just curious...

Looking for some info...
I will be commuting from whatever base I am awarded at Mainline. Was wondering... is there a waiting period before Travel Benefits are enabled? I know with some US carriers you have to wait something like six months before they let you fly... Anyone?

I work for a U.S. carrier that had a similar problem and bombardier tried to pin it on the pilot. Turns out that there was some micro corrosion in the strut assembly and that they had problems with a certain strut batch... We now have a regular inspection worked into the sched that ensures that no o...

Buying back pension... can it be done?
I was an employee at AC mainline in another function, then quit and have just received medical clearance to return as a pilot. I was in from '95 to '01 an they gave me a lump sum distribution for my pension contributions.
Does anyone know if that time can be bought back?

Porter pay rates - any info?
Hi all, been looking around online and at avcanada for info on Porter's pay rates without any luck so far. Just to add my 2 cents... just keep in mind that some captains run out of these Jumpseat passes. So make sure that your plans on AC have a back up! I got to the Atlanta airport for a 6AM flight to YYZ and there were plenty of seat but the captain had no passes left! Now what? I had to fly northwest ...

I kind of agree... but the U.S. does have 1 asset. Despite the fact that I would rather not live in the U.S. because of Bush, psycho gun laws and poor education, there are also many different airlines. They don't have good contracts and they are currently in a race to the bottom in terms of working ...
