Re: 250hr Pilot Advice

I didn't actually correct his grammar. I just suggested he improve it. If I'd corrected it I would have said "gonna" isn't part of English, and he should have used the words "going to". But I didn't. It most definitely is part of English and has been since the early 1800s. It's even in the English ...

Re: GCS energy

Am I disconnected from reality for thinking theres no 5,000hr guys willing to relocate to fly a ka90 or navajo for multiple years? Assuming they're looking for someone long term and would require signing on for a couple years?

Re: Jobs for Pilots with 250 HRS In Northwestern Ontatio

Perimeter is giving a lot of ramp to flight line offers out right now, not sure what they're quoting for time. I believe 5-6 months ramping ? If you can afford to lose money your first year working Northstar will put you on pc12 or basler within 6 months I've heard. If you're lucky you might even ge...

Re: New Pilot

I was told to start applying the day I got my CPL signed off, so thats what I did. People had told me things move fast in the industry and if you aren't available immediately your resume will likely get chucked. Took about a month to get my first offer. Another offer a month later. And finally accep...

Re: Wasaya

Their website says they're hiring both Captains and FO's on various aircraft but only have the Dash8 and B1900 minimums listed. Does anyone happen to know how many hours they require for a PC12 FO ? Any input is appreciated.

Re: Entry Level Jobs

Since you're willing to work a ramp and relocate you shouldn't have any trouble finding anything right now with NWO and Territory operators. However, you'd probably find a lot better opportunity come spring.

Re: Looking for a flying program Vancouver

Looking at that program; $90k is insane. Sure, you get to write your saron and samra exams, but you'll still have a frozen atpl until you get your atpl hours which is essentially the same as getting your license for a lot less and writing the iatra to work FO multi crew. Maybe I'm wrong. I dont know...

Re: Human Factors CPL Written

Recently wrote my CPAER. Obviously theres different versions of the exam but I dont recall having any questions regarding the specifics of the inner ear tubes or whatever. Know all the symptoms for hypoxia, carbon monoxide, etc. Know your alcohol, fatigue, underwater diving, anesthetic rules. Be fam...

Re: Will we ever stop shooting ourselves in the foot?

My Captain friend at Air Canada tells me the bids that have been coming out for new captains are absolutely insane and he's never seen anything like it before in his career. Would think if companies were smart they would start taking on newer pilots and training them to exactly what they want them t...

Re: Pilot Shortage / Minimums /disconnect

Any insight into which companies are offering rotations to low hour FO's? How did we ever win WW2 with all those 200 hr kids flying fighters and bombers? ...Well, that was a much...ahem.. "hardier generation".. to say the least! My observation in regards to smaller companies competing for Pilots wit...

Re: Are you a pilot-in-waiting?

For someone new to the industry with no pilot in waiting experience, what are Summit and North Star's waiting times ? And what is the average Northern operators waiting time ? Summit Air and North Star Air should be on top of your list for interviewing pilots in waiting. Those two places still have ...

Re: Online ground school?

Depends on which license or rating you're going for. I did Harv's for everything. PPL was amazing. Got a great grade. IFR was terrible. Barely passed. CPL was alright. As stated above, a lot of the same as the PPL course. I think they could do a lot better restructuring the programs and techniques. ...

Re: Help: Im stuck and can't decide what to do

As the poster above said, everyone will tell you what you want to hear to get your money. If I were you I would start flight training immediately and do the single course for the diploma. Also depends on what time frame you're hoping for. If you started flight training right away and worst case scen...

Re: Is this even doable?

I wasn't working full time when I did my training, so my experience is a bit different. However, I went from never flying to m-ifr cpl in 4.5 months. Not sure where you're training either, but if you can't get time in on a weekend I would try a different school maybe ? I had to book all my flights 3...

Re: Recent Business Graduate wanting to become commercial pilot

I am in the process of getting my CPL. You already have a degree so you have that going for you, I would think a diploma program would be overkill and unnecessary, but who am I to say. You're lucky that your father has a plane, if you could train on it with a freelance instructor you will save big t...

Re: Part time float jobs?

You might be able to find someone needing part time help on the dock and maybe occasional flying if they have a 185 or something. Around here in NWO there are quite a few part timers flying but they are all high time guys flying Otters and bigger stuff like that. A 100 hour float pilot normally nee...

Training Time on a Taildragger?

Hey guys and gals, Took a quick search but didn't find a whole lot on this subject. I recently completed my PPL and am now working on my CPL with a training institute in central AB. My dream is to become a bush pilot after building my time to 500. I'm aware that nobody is going to hire anyone withou...
