Re: WestJet breaks collective agreement with pilots.
Why isn't ALPA WestJet suing WestJet over this? Is ALPA allowing airline management to get away with anything? Sorry, I can't follow your argument. Are you saying that WJ's acquisition of Sunwing contravenes our scope provisions? Also union's don't sue employers in Canada: they file grievances or C...

Re: Deployment pay
Likely they're all going to be deploying to yyc to cover WestJet flying when team teal walks off the job. And then to thank them for their service....BOTL! You're assuming Sunwing pilots have a choice in this? I can assure you Sunwing pilots stand behind WestJet pilots all the way. Another thing wo...

Some are spending as much as 5k a month on places in Prague for their accommodations with their family. Not nearly as lucrative as it once was. Prices have gone up and the allocation hasn't.
Re: GS dates
Current GS, started April 10th. There will be one GS per month with about 10ish people for the foreseeable future. Experience is mixed.
Re: Yvr base?
Well, there isn't really a lot of movement. So I'm guessing quite a while. Sunwing isn't hiring for western bases anymore either - just eastern.

Re: Sunwing/Westjet
You're assuming Sunwing will also have pilots to operate these aircraft too. Attrition is real at Sunwing also. WestJet may be counting on using Sunwing to fulfill operational needs if the westjet pilots stike but the amount of aircraft and personnel available at Sunwing will hardly do anything to f...

Re: Sunwing/Westjet
Sunwing is deploying aircraft and pilots to Europe this year. If WestJet expects Sunwing to cover WestJet flights this summer, good luck. It'll hardly make a dent with how many aircraft they'll have available.

These are only garunteed minimums, I'm sure you can make more than that if you pick up some overtime to make a few more bucks I hope this was intended as sarcasm. Re: TA…HERE IT IS AND IT SUCKS
Flair isn't going to shit down if pilots vote no to this. Let's be clear. In the US, even the LCC's made gains. Why are Canadian LCC's willing to accept less? Why are we even using the argument "well this is a different type of company than AC or WS". Is this carrier willing to shut things down beca...

Re: Sunwing axes TFW plans
If they are under the allowable limit they'll top up. They are short crews now to staff their busy winter season. Outsourcing flying is an option however, are they even able to provide the lift themselves? Canada JetLines will operate a flight a day for Sunwing out of YYZ. This is still short. Sunwi...

These TFW's will be making more than our pilots flying our routes. This is circumventing our Canadian labour. 34 TVS crew are on their way to Canada right now.

Re: Tell Parliament Now
This helps ALL pilots. Does ALPA need to specifically represent trainers and checkers now? Do trainers and checkers need to be treated differently? Sign it if you want to affect change. I don't give a shit about anyones socks. If you think this helps him, pull your head out of your ass - this doesn't.

No surprise here... The Bureau's empirical economic expert found that the Proposed Transaction is likely to result in significant competitive effects, including price increases for Canadians on a variety of routes where the merged entity would have market power. As a result, the Commissioner has con...

Well, This company once used to be a good lifestyle carrier balancing work and free time. Some relish this opportunity to deploy (for travel) while others avoid it like the plague. That said, those who deploy still fall short of earning similar pay to colleagues ...

Re: FTDT App for Canada
haha, I’m not naive that’s why. Take a read through the posts above. There’s a reason ALPA has their own app. Don’t be so naive.
I’m not going to my company to have them “buy in” or subscribe at their level. I’m looking for an app that crew can monitor themselves like ALPA crew do.

Yeah, well there must be someone out there that could design an app for our phones that we could use personally. I agree, the regs can be a bit overwhelming to understand. Something similar to the EASA FLT Calc on iOS would be ideal. Just saying, it would be handy for all if someone designed one or ...
