Re: Sunglasses for flying
Having owned, abused, lost and twisted all types over the past 40 or so years - from Beer store 9.99 specials to Maui Jims and everything in between (no, never owned Louis Vuitton or Gucci or Prada, but I did wear some traditional yellow-lense cat-eye Vuarnets back in the 80's... we just had to!...)...

Re: Video released Aug 2013 Iceland Air Ambulance KA200 cras
Had he come from the opposite direction, he could have taken then entire dragstrip clubhouse, garages, crews and spectators... This clip, unfortunately, has tremendous educational value. Reminds me of the B52 airshow crash where the pilot was also feared by crewmates and ended up killing a bunch of ...

Re: Cessna 185 down in Mont-Laurier
The following statement was posted in the forum at "Les Ailes Québécoises" about the C-185 crash at Mont Laurier: C-FFWD a écrit:Selon les informations officielles que j'ai obtenu: 1- Il n'y aura pas de rapport d'accident par le BST. 2- La cause de l'accident aurait été un recul de siège du pilote p...

Re: OC Transpo bus vs VIA rail train, Ottawa Sept 18 2013
I would spend on such safety before spending a billion $ on light rail. Well, I'd spend it on the light rail in a heartbeat. It would take cars and buses off the road which will reduce fatalities every year, as opposed to your option which might prevent one large accident like this every couple dec...

Re: OC Transpo bus vs VIA rail train, Ottawa Sept 18 2013
Of course, bus routes should not cross busy railroad tracks on a daily basis. Permanent fix can only be an underpass for bus traffic. This accident was essentially a RUNWAY INCURSION. Do you have any idea how much it would cost to implement this? Even in Ottawa, which doesn't have that many grade c...

Re: OC Transpo bus vs VIA rail train, Ottawa Sept 18 2013
From all reports, the rail issues seem to have been ok. Sadly, the family of the bus driver is doing the best PR campaign it can to protect his name and deflect blame. The brakes on the bus likely did not fail as the driver would have noticed before passengers started to scream a him (to stop). Ther...

Thank you CD. Anyone knows how the survival suits used compare to others such as the famously thick, lined and sealed poopysuits used by SeaKing crews?

Re: Coast Guard helicopter crash off CCGS Amundsen
It bothers me that they died of hypothermia after only an hour in survival suits. Are the suits adequate? Can they be closed up in the water if comfort requires keeping them unzipped in the cockpit? Will they still do the job if some water got in before they were zipped up? I must have missed a pos...

Re: Ornge Sikorsky Air ambulance accident Northern Ontario
Me,i know nothing, meh. I do hope they put a little bit more effort into this investigation, than they did with some of the previous sad and rather pathetic attempts at previous sideshows. It is not really a safety investigation if all they do is look for ways to blame the pilots. TSB investigators a...

Don't know what the PRK procedure is, but I am quite sure laser surgery is quite safe these days. There is an immense sense of pride and satisfaction to be a CF pilot, and I can sense you already know this and you want this. You probably know as wel that it is an officer job first, and a pilot job i...
