Totally agree. I'm hoping the courts can step in, notwithstanding the failed injunction recently. I understand there are lawsuits in progress.Widgeon Guy wrote:Still a big loss.

Re: Envision Edmonton (City Centre airport)
Saskatoon and Calgary have down town airports You're not going to win friends and influence people by stretching the truth. I have lived in Saskatoon for 10 years now. Please point out our downtown airport, because I've missed it. Look I'm on your side but stick to the facts and don't twist things....

The Namao International Airshow, in Edmonton.
We spend the whole weekend there. Awesome aerial and static displays. The Russians always seemed to like to come to that one.

Maybe it was intentional but pretty appropriate airplane choice for your analogy in this caselinecrew wrote:Instead of a simple power up noise they added what to me sounded like a Japanese Zero diving on a target.

Re: Air quality inside aircraft
Do any companies out there routinely do air quality testing inside aircraft looking for traces of mold and that sort of thing? There are industrial hygiene companies that can do IAQ testing. You can also start by contacting OHS with the Ministry of Labour and request an IAQ kit...most ministries ha...

Re: Man dies while de-icing plane at Calgary airport
I last worked the ramp 5 yrs ago. We did all the loading/unloading and deicing too. I can probably count on one hand the number of times I wore the harness to deice. It was cumbersome and wasn't comfortable to wear. I look back on that and realize how stupid I was. If something had happened, I don'...

Re: Ice Pilots of NWT Series on History Channel this Fall!
CYXE- I think you missed my point or part of my explanation. I'm not saying that every profession requires you to do different tasks.....but what i am saying is that if you want to get ahead, it's often not just seniority that people take into account. That might not be fair but it is reality. Yes,...

Re: Ice Pilots of NWT Series on History Channel this Fall!
This is not that unusual from ANY other profession- aviation included. Really. Name one other (non aviation) professional career where a trained professional is hired as something completely different in order to "pay their dues" and "learn the ropes". I realize that's how it is. Thats fine. But do...

Re: Brace for Impact The Cheley B. Sullenberger Story
It is the opinion of this old goat that Cheley B. Sullenberger is milking this for all it is worth. So he's not only a qualified pilot, but a smart one as well... No doubt he is..... on both accounts. However, whatever he is selling and/or peddling, he won’t make a nickel from me as I shan’t be mak...

Re: Ice Pilots of NWT Series on History Channel this Fall!
Ok point taken, but to carry the pointless analogy further - med students and law students when they're done don't go work reception at a law or med office - they start practicing (articling or as residents), under mentorship... Actually, they may very well do both. If the articling job or medical ...

Re: Ice Pilots of NWT Series on History Channel this Fall!
I would hardly compare a Multi IFR CPL the same as a MBA but that debate has raged on here before. Maybe a better analogy would be the fresh med student doesn't jump right into fixing people or a law grad doesn't jump right into a trial right off the bat. Ok point taken, but to carry the pointless ...

Re: Ice Pilots of NWT Series on History Channel this Fall!
Lots of jobs start out in the mail room before you become the CEO. ...not the best analogy - a better analogy might be a company, with an opening at say, manager or assistant VP, hiring an MBA grad, with good references and demonstrated ability, to work in the mail room and "work his way up". That ...

These days however, and also having a lot more experience in work/life, I tend to fully agree with Brewguy's statement below. Having worked a bit in construction & industrial settings, I find it difficult to believe its legal to work up there without fall arrest equipment. Either way, there will al...

Re: Ice Pilots of NWT Series on History Channel this Fall!
So then is there an exemption to WCB rules governing fall protection? In particular that you MUST have fall protection above 2.4m? My guess is that is why blueoval56 didn't get anything from WCB, claim denied due wllfully disregarding safety regs. Disregard for existing safety regs does not preclud...

Re: AC Charging Extra for Emergency Exit Seats
Westjet has been doing this for a long time already, the bad press on them...? They're a low cost carrier, so expectations are already low from their passengers as to what they will receive, and what they will have to pay for, so it doesn't make the news. I guess? Westjet's mandate was always to be...

I will shout more often than not, not just for prop safety but also as a courtesy to any in the vicinity, even if not in danger of being struck by the blade, (behind the plane in particular) who may not appreciate a face full of propwash (or dust, etc) regardless of how harmless it may be.
