Re: Sunwing Cancels All Flights Through June 23

I will start by saying I have no vested interest in either party currently, but in the future who knows these days? I do not mean this any negative way, only an observation from the cheap seats. Our industry is very raw meat right now and there is a lot of play going on in boardrooms (with masks on...

Re: Sunwing Cancels All Flights Through June 23

In a perfect world, we need an online recurrent ground course, emergency doors training, 5 sims and a line check ( LOFT event which is two sims and a PPC event which is 3 sims) for around 400+ pilots. Fly is not like riding a bike. It's the critical thinking and analysis along with muscle memory and...

Re: Certified or Certificated Flight Instructor?

Someone correct me if I’m wrong but isn’t the CFI in the US the equivalent of a Class 3 flight instructor? Meaning that the CFI can do freelance right out of the gate? I use to teach in the states. My CFI CFII and MEI are still current as I renew them every two years. Yes you can use your CFI to te...

For those of you commuting to the United States for work, how have travel restrictions been a challenge working for a non Canadian operation?

Re: Non Aviation Employers Don't Respect Pilot Experience

Get your AZ or DZ license. Plenty of truck driving jobs long hall or regional day trips. 7k investment. You may qualify for government funding. Starting pay could be as high as $35/hr. There is a truck driving shortage. The US is currently taking Canadian drivers with sponsorship and all. Great way...

How rusty do you feel you're going to be?

https://www.bloomberg.com/news/articles/2020-11-30/grounded-pilots-out-of-practice-spark-airline-safety-fears What are airlines going to do to bring their pilots back up to speed? I haven't flown since March. I pull out the manuals and study something about once a week. What are you doing keep your ...

Re: US European ban lifting?

A) You still need to enter Canada and clear Canadian customs which right now would not be allowed B) isn’t the US on most of Europe’s non safe country list anyway? I see. Didn't know that. I've been doing a normal hamster wheel job and have lost track of what travel restrictions are in place. Cheers

US European ban lifting?

This could be a boost for Air Canada's international market between the Americas and Europe. Lots of travelers connecting through YYZ, YUL, and YVR on AC.

Re: Scope

No scope. SW doesn't fly half empty aircraft around at a lose. Unless it's the beginning of the end season. They will consolidate two flights into one if they need to with a double stop. It's not financially smart to right know to use too many of its own aircraft. Some of our pilots hate that, but i...

Re: Liberals may target the Transportation sector with very hefty Carbon taxes.

I'm curious if people are opposed to a carbon tax because they don't believe that it will actually help clean up the problem or because they don't believe that the government can be trusted to use it for that purpose? Or do people believe climate change is a hoax? I personally am okay with the idea...

To AvCanada

Is I possible to have a dedicated expat forum for the airlines broken into different regions of the world?

The industry will open up eventually and pilots will be looking beyond Canada for jobs considering the situation in Canada.
