Re: YYZ Fall VFR
I would suggest looking at student housing for one of the universities in the area. Look at UTM, York, Centennial. Generally speaking the landlords near colleges are scummier than the ones near universities. You can look for sublets where people let for 4-8 months at a time, usually beginning on Ja...

Re: Hired ATC YVR - Questions during training
I had a kid a month in to generic IFR and I checked out 3 months ago in an enroute specialty. Definitely not ideal but here we are lol. Id say further along in OJT would be the easiest time to take any kind of extended leave, but at that point in training, just get qualified then take your leave. Th...

So you’re saying you test well and can teach anyone to test well, but your personality isn’t there? Got it.

Re: Initial 30 minute assessment still wonderlic?
My best advice is to not count on getting in. Go about your everyday life and put your application in the back of your mind. If you get called for the next step, excellent. If you don’t hear from them or hear a negative result, then it wasn’t meant to be. There isn’t anything you can do to score bet...

Ya that could be likely. I didn’t think they ran generic enroute/terminal that close together.

Re: YWG training offers
I’ll see you in Feb for IFR! Yes, but not until april! I am finishing my degree right now and asked if I could start later. They (very graciously) allowed me to start on april 4th, after my degree finishes. So lucky and exciting! If you are interested, get in touch with me and maybe we could study ...

Re: Background Check Questions
Just a warning, don’t base how difficult the exam is based on that no one has failed it. People have definitely failed it and been CT’d.
Learn the material well. And then learn it again. It’s the easiest exam in the course so it’s best to start your studying/memorization skills now.

Re: Any updates on training?
I’m assuming the invite is for FEAST. In my opinion you should go, is one day off work worth it to have a shot at an amazing career? If you’re that concerned about not being in the right mindset, take off the day before too. That’s what I’d do. I’ve heard about multiple FIRs having no-shows to FEAST...

Re: Question about online application and test
You’ll never know your FEAST score. It sucks but at the end of the day it doesn’t really matter. You either have what it takes or you don’t.

Re: Feast testing results
I got an email for an invite to the bootcamp about 20-25 days after FEAST.
I did Feast near the end of the selection though.
You’re in YEG right? I heard they’re doing 13 days of FEAST with 8 people per day.

Re: YEG assessment camp
You won’t get much info on the boot camp since we signed NDAs and they made it very clear that they don’t want the content to be public.
Go in rested and with an open mind. Be yourself. Don’t be insulted if you don’t make it. You either have it or you don’t.

Re: YWG Onsite Assessment - 2019
We never got to see our scores from FEAST or from the 2 day boot camp. They were never discussed. Just told us we did well enough to move to the next stage. Some people got offers within 2 weeks of the boot camp with their preferred stream. And some got offers later. I feel like the people that got ...

Re: FEAST Assessments
They don’t want info on the selection process leaked and we had to sign NDAs so people won’t give you many details on it.
The only tip I’ll give is to be well rested and be sure your brain is awake and ready. It’s either you have it or you don’t.
Check the Wikipedia page on FEAST.
Good luck!

Congrats to you too YYC85!
I didn’t expect to hear back so quick because of the boot camp in early July that they told us about. Interesting that some people got offers before the boot camps are completed.

Re: YEG Applications process
Just got an email today from NAV Canada. Wasn't expecting to hear back till August at the latest. So I'm beyond excited!! This is with the new FEAST/2 day boot-camp process. My timeline: FIR : YEG Preference order - IFR, VFR, FSS Referral application began: February, 2019 Referral confirmation: Marc...
