Re: Interim bid out
They won't change anything. They'll just assign the unbid WB FO positions to new hires. Perhaps. WB FO positions have been open here and there for a while now, yet they haven't been assigning them to new hires. I'd be pretty choked if I was a new hire and forced to use my one WB FO course right to ...

Re: Interim bid out
If you want off flat pay bid NB Capt. It will probably change but right now it's going to first years. Avoid WB FO if you can until they do something about the ridiculous flat pay. I'm going to personally wait a little longer before bidding left seat. I think doing it just for the money is a bad re...

Re: Interim bid out
Moa coming up with acpa releasing fo's in their 3rd year willing to go WB fo from the fixed rate into formula pay? If they do that, they should just make it 2 years across the board. Play hardball. Company needs to fill WB FO seats and wants to remove flat pay? That's leverage right there, even if ...

Interim bid out
This interim bid is telling. And really highlights the problems we have with pay at AC.
I'm sure it will change multiple times by the time it closes. But I doubt there are 100+ people on flat pay willing to give up their schedule for a WB FO job.

Re: Numbers on how many the regionals are hiring?
I think your numbers are a bit overly optimistic. Although 500 retirements at Jazz in the next 5 years would be nice, I think it will be less than half that. The retirement numbers are never accurate from the list due to some taking the ERP. Here’s the #s I got from the alpa retirement section: Pil...

Thanks for making me laugh today. Nothing says entitlement like a Sr's discount. Yet apparently millennial are the entitled generation.... RIGHT...!!! That's why I never had kids. Back in our day, if we stepped outta line, you got a boot in your ass, or a good back hand.. I'm so scared. PS, ...

Re: August Equip Bid
Does Jazz have 480 eligible pilots that would want to flow to AC? Basically, 480 pilots that have at least 2 years of experience, 2000 TT AND their ATPL... Unless AC changes the minimum requirements. Minimums highly unlikely. The flow through ratio will be renegotiated. No it won't. That's the only...

Re: ALPA blows off ACPA? Or ACPA blows off ALPA?
Pardon my ignorance, but how is your seniority defined? From your Collective agreement 4.01.01 it looks like it is based on the date of employment (and before Nov 2010 it’s from date of remuneration). A merge DOH could work I guess? On a side note, during the last days at the employee buses some se...

Re: ALPA blows off ACPA? Or ACPA blows off ALPA?
ALPA would be wise to make it clear that the previously negotiated terms will stand if a vote comes. Agreed. And I hope they do. In fact if they do I can see ALPA taking the representation vote. But I’m not sure what ALPA will do. They run the risk of a union raid appearance if they come out hard o...

Re: August Equip Bid
There are many variables, but does anyone have a somewhat accurate "guesstimate" for how many AC will take from Jazz going into 2020 and beyond ?? I get the delayed Jazz bid will detail more but I am curious to what everyone thinks will happen... I don't think AC even knows what they themselves wil...

Re: August Equip Bid
Not all, but if after the whole shakedown with Transat AC only needs 400 pilots instead of 800 that drops the Jazz requirement to 240. I don’t want people to make a decision assuming AC is going to take almost 500 Jazz pilots next year. It's been said clearly by management at AC. The 800+ vacancies...

Re: ALPA blows off ACPA? Or ACPA blows off ALPA?
Coincidence that this email goes out making ALPA Intl look like the bad guy just before we may go to a representation vote? Doubt it. The "merger" policy that everyone is up in arms about is not legally binding it's a guideline/policy. And regardless, the government will step in regardless and force...

Re: DOH merge.
If you limit the number of tails at TS, the 2 groups won't fight against each other.. This cannot happen. There should be one list with one payscale. Rouge doesnt help, and ACPA pilots voting to allow unlimited NB growth at rouge on the last reopener was also a beauty. Didn’t understand that to be ...

Re: DOH merge.
Westjet/Onex and Air France interested in Transat, so we know why AC went from 13$ to 18$... Let them have it. Yup. Let them shuffle it around and make it into an express version of what we do . TS you are not an improvement . You are not any more than a charter airline who has overseas seasonal fl...

Re: Pilot Shortage / Minimums /disconnect
The answer is dollars. Pay a 704 (or 705 "lite") FO 60 grand and the captain 100-150 grand, have them home every night, treat them properly, you won't have a shortage. That's where the real disconnect is. The 704 operators are still acting like it's 2009 and don't want to admit they're competing wi...
