Re: Renewing Expired Flight Instructor Rating

No i get it. IFR was sort if like that, but i don't remember anything regarding exams. Somehow it is just a way to keep their recordkeeping tidy at TC. Obviously one still has to prove competency in whatever discipline we r going for, or trying to keep. I have spent a long time trying to catch up of...

Re: Renewing Expired Flight Instructor Rating

Ok then. So if you have to rewrite the exam, and you need a flight test, why do they even leave it in your license booklet? It has expired and you still need to start all over.

Re: advice required regarding few questions for Cpl

Costs are estimates only. It will depend on how much you fly. If you have to miss a few weeks due to "aircraft inavailability" or something, you may need a few more hours to make up your knowledge etc. Can you study while working? Well, I do not have experience with aviation colleges, only universit...

Re: Leaving with a bond?

Don't mean to derail, but when did this 'bond' thing come about? I thought this sort of thing went out with the serfs. And all these people flying off the handle about PTF: what do you think this is? I fully understand the business point of view: I ran a successful business for around 20 years, and ...

OK thanks for responding. First, I am old, and before this, I "flew" Link trainers - you can look up what those things were. I can sort of get it working, but it never seems to do what I want. If I knew what to say, I would probably be able to figure it out
Sorry I am not more specific.

Any education is good. Flying safely is a mindset, and CPL training cannot hurt.

Re: Wow- more than a few jobs posted

I take issue with that Mr Boy. There are good days, fantastic days, and bad days in every line of work. Nowhere though, are there as many preconceptions like in aviation, that are just wrong. If flying was that great, people would do it for free. Er...

Re: Wow- more than a few jobs posted

Aviation is like that. This cycle has lots of opportunities, and for the sake of the future of travellers everywhere, I hope people take advantage of some of them, get what they need for experience, and THEN go to the airlines and fly me to Europe on my holidays, not before. Flying is a job, no matt...

Re: Logging Pilot In Command Under Supervision Time

I never understood the issue. Are there no jobs doing fire patrols or pipelines? Failing that, why can't people just buy or rent an airplane with a friend or two and just do it - take a few long trips and have fun. I am not trying to be a smart aleck. It isn't glamourous no, but then again, absolute...

Mr schnitzel, if your comment was for me, your are 100% erroneous. I have no application to AC nor will I ever be making one. If people don't feel comfortable putting their info out there, it should be their choice.

Re: Am I too old to be a commercial pilot?

No that is a typical response from someone who worked for everything they have. I feel the same but really, i worked pretty hard for it, and made decent choices, as it turned out. I come from a good middle class family in a half decent first world country, so i suppose that is lucky.

Dunno about Alberta but Cornwall Aviation is very professional. Accommodations can be had for around $100/night in town. They are however, very busy. You want a place where you can get it done, with no dicking around. Allow about three weeks.

Nothing ventured, nothing gained. If you want it, do it. You can go back full time to consulting anytime. It is not an easy road, even now, although it has never been like it is now in my my long lifetime. Ask yourself why you earned all that money in the first place. To enjoy life.

Re: looking for Air Canada pilot directory

Schools have no problem letting people know who their staff are. Also, many people advertise themselves as employees of different places. I fail to see a privacy problem with this. A lot of us have lost track of friends over the years and it would be nice to find them.
