Re: Parlez vous le 'spy talk'?

Bonjour is pretty hard to say, admittedly. Especially when it implies a bit of respect for somebody else.

Re: Encore Hiring 250 hrs

As long as Air Canada has that carrot out there - even if it is several years out, there will be guys and girls wanting to fly for a living (whatever that is). I have said it a hundred times on here already, but it is a tough go til then, and even then, the moaning from unhappy AC people (OBVIOUSLY ...

Re: Will this industry ever recover?

Just think of how great you'll feel when you "make it". Who said life was easy? We are tougher here in our country because things are genuinely harder.

Re: Which would you choose?

Not always. Nortel is a good example. Company puts the pension wherever they want, then lose it, or pay it to themselves... Dishonest/illegal still leaves employees holding the bag.

Re: Parlez vous le 'spy talk'?

No that's pretty much it. My problem is is gets rid of the traditional Christian symbols at the same time as the "FOREIGN PEOPLE'S" symbols. We won't get into discrimination and subjugation of females or anything. I get the whole thing, but personally, I don't care what people wear or show, or what ...

Re: Parlez vous le 'spy talk'?

A couple of words here and there go a long ways, in any language. The AC guy could have said "my French is terrible, je m'excuse" and he would have been accepted. Quebec is bilingual, no matter what certain people want you to believe. And you can get by very well in English if you want to restrict y...

Depends where you feel comfortable. I liked my experience, but I was also happy to return down south at the end of the season. I don't hunt, and fish...

Re: Maybe some day this issue will be put to rest

Hard to watch people being miserable at the top of the food chain. Is there anybody who is thankful for their health and life in general, no matter what chronological age?

More than unethical, it is immoral. But that is this industry and at least people are openly talking about it.

Re: Instructing vs Ramp

Instructing is a job as a professional pilot. A ramp job can be done by anybody. I won't go into more details than that but suffice to say instructing launched my "career". Many I worked with as instructors are at air Canada or retired from.

Re: Hmmmmmm

The career is a tough one and anybody who says it was easy on the way up is not telling you the truth. Personally I quit to pursue more money and stability and now it is too late. I have no regrets and neither should the kid who sucks it up and gets on with it.

Re: Hmmmmmm

Too many pilots. Not enough good paying jobs. I don't think people should have to put up with it either, but it is still dog eat dog, and if there is one person more ambitious than you, your career is stuffed and he goes to Air Canada. And another thing... Is this job in North Bay or some other metr...

Re: Hmmmmmm

Want the type rating and the experience? Want to go to Air Canada? Then fucking do it and smile the whole time. Don't "want to"? Someone else gets your seat at Jazz etc etc It is a sorry state of affairs but that is the industry. Low margins, lots of staff available. What do people want? Respect? Go...

Yeah but we want the NEXT one, where he explains how he got laid off and went back to AC, and that if we were just a bit smarter about career planning, we could be just like him.

TheStig has nailed it for me. Thanks. People have too much time on their hands and get themselves in a tither. I don't remember my mum telling me life was going to be easy.

Re: Gotta Love Team Teal……again.

I think you have a great point. CERB got us through without major economic disaster for MOST. Companies don't know what to do now, but they will figure something out, and people will go back to work for them again (maybe a bit less interest in the aviation industry, as it is being seen for what it i...

Re: WestJet Increasing Services?

I know. I am itching to go somewhere, as have a lot of people, but the governments really don't want it to happen yet. That is the only explanation I can think of. I am not saying they are wrong; we are all just trying to keep ICUs open for broken legs, heart attacks etc, and not have them full of p...

Re: WestJet Increasing Services?

That is ambitious. We can all hope. Once more get vaccinated, and Europe opens up - right now the UK is basically closed to us - we can all go on nice holidays again. Vaccination doesn't increase: we don't go anywhere... One problem right now with France, for example, is the idea that Test and Trace...
