Is there really a shortage of Canadian pilots?

I read a posting today from a Canadian regional operator seeking captains and I was surprised to see that they are now seeking applicants from Europe, USA and Africa. I guess operators looking for qualified applicants have no need to improve remuneration or working conditions for Canadians if they c...

Re: Any Type rated 737 Canadian pilots still out there ?

To answer your question of "any type rated 737 fo's out there the answer is yes. I'm current on the 737-200 and speak both E/F. Despite sending resumes to 737 operators in Canada the best I can find are B1900 positions that pay somewhat well.

Hi Flyinggirl, I've interviewed at Jazz with the last year and in my opinion I think they are looking for relevant experience and above all personality. If your the type of person they deem to be pleasant and professional I think this goes a long way towards your being invited to the sim eval. Have ...

Can someone tell me why we can refer to Aerocourse and Seminair but we can't use Cxxxxxx with-out if getting censored? Does it have something to do with the fact the guys also a lawyer and he's threatened to sue anyone that doesn't pay him to use the name? For what it's worth, I didn't think the mat...

Re: iPods on the flightdeck

Ipods are great! I wouldn't travel without one. I also wouldn't consider using one on the flight deck. I don't think it is too much to ask for ones attention be paid to flying in flight. That is your job, rocking out is not. Yes, I am "old school". There's only so many fuel calculations one can do ...

iPods on the flightdeck

Just looking for some opinions/thoughts on what fellow pilot's and management think of flight crew listening to iPod's and the like while working. Has anyone heard of specific prohibitions against it at some companies? What would passengers think if they saw the pilots bobbing their heads to music? ...

Re: Why am I getting such attitude when I call places??

I remember looking for my first jobs as a pilot. Some CP's blew me off and some gave me a few minutes of their time and offered some great advice. I still remember the companies who's CP treated me with respect and to this day I've got a very high opinion of certain companies and a rather negative o...

[quote="Liquid Charlie" I guess the point I'm trying to make is that guys pretend to be horrified when someone mentions "busting minimums" but there are far more dangerous areas out there that will bite your ass. The group that concerns me the most are the guys who try and "end run" the regs and fin...

Your right Cat, I will leave this one alone and apologize to the...

Unsung hero's, the real flight instructors.

Just curious to know what actual working pilots out there think of flight instructors as new hires into 703 or 704 ops. It seems to me that the real "instructors" out there are guys and gals doing line indocs on newbies and flying the line with them until they know what they are really doing. I thin...

Here's a scary thought, once the TSA and CATSA people get their little brains around this one, what kind of restrictions are we now going to have to face in order to commute on a charter? I mean just think of it, the "terrorizers" now have yet another idea. MEATBOMBS! Anyways, I hope a little humor ...

Re: Airport Security discussion

Here's a question: Do the doormen/security/janitor at an airport have the right to ask for your pilot license? According to my memory, the regs say you must produce your licenses upon request of a police officer, customs agent or Transport Canada inspector. All of whom carry official accreditation. ...
